I open my eyes and see its dark, “Jenna?”

Jenna looks at me, “Yes?”

I sit up and Jenna’s wings disappear, “How long have we been here?”

Jenna smiles, “A few hours.”

“I thought vampires don’t sleep.”

Jenna nods, “You weren’t asleep, but deep in thought. When I first turned to cheer me up Kaine would show me visions of memories he had of my parents. It was just like dreaming to me. It made me feel, human again.”

I look at her, “I’m sorry. You must miss your parents a lot.”

“Its fine. They’re in a better place now.”

I stand up, “Will you come to my parent’s grave with me.”

Jenna nods, “Of course.”

I jump off the branch and let myself fall for a bit then start flying. Jenna gets down close to a field and scoops up some flowers. I give a small smile and she exchanges one. I let the wind whip my hair around and let it hit my face. It feels nice. I land next to my parents’ grave, “This is it.”

Jenna lays the flowers down, “Are you okay?”

I nod and kneel down and let some tears slowly fall, “I’m fine.”

I miss my parents every day, but I know that they wouldn’t want me to be sad. I stare at the leaves covering the tombstone and they float into the air and the wind carries them off. Jenna tries to lighten the mood, “You’ve really gotten good at that. You know the whole mind thing.”

I don’t bother to look up and I just trace their names in the tomb. I hear the sounds of wings and then Kaine asks, “Natalie, are you okay?”

I turn around and everyone is around me and they all are wearing looks of concern. I grip the dirt in my hands and say, “I’m fine I just want to be alone right now.”

Jake kneels with me, “Times like this a vampire needs family.  We are your family now Natalie.”

I look at the ground and stand up, “All I want to know now is who killed my parents.”

Kaleb sighs, “You see no one knows. It’s only rumored that they were killed because they knew too much. No one knows the truth, yet alone who did it.”

I stare at the moon and say, “Well I have plenty of time to find that person don’t I?”

Jenna grabs my hand and asks scared, “Natalie what are you saying.”

I look into her eyes and let her see the pain I carry. I finally say, “I’m going to find out who, killed my parents and why!”
