"Atalaya! Wake up!"
My eyes flashed open and I jerked up, pushing away whoever had been kneeling over me as I bent nearly in half.
I gasped in one breath after the other, unable to get enough air as my body struggled to find out what was wrong with me.
Once it finally did, the healing process was excruciating. It was slow going for several minutes and I was unable to open my eyes for much of it.
It seemed like it took forever, and I had no idea where I was. I couldn't hear anything except my own pulse. And the only smell that drifted through my nose was charred flesh.
As soon as my body was healed I opened my eyes and straightened up, looking into the concerned eyes of both of my leopards.
My gaze was drawn to who was standing behind them.
Ezekiel was currently scolding the teenager I'd seen just before I blacked out.
She looked exactly like my daughter. I stared at them, slowly rising to my feet with the help of Eshe and Esi and stumbling towards them.
The black-haired girl turned to look at me, her green eyes narrowed in suspicion as I dropped to my knees in front of her.
I raised a shaking hand to touch her, not looking away from her face as I spoke to Ezekiel.
"H-how?"
"We never considered that Katarina would have children. And we never even thought that from her human descendants that a supernatural could come. But, here she is."
Ezekiel put his hand on my own and pulled it away from the teenager, drawing my eyes up to his face as he helped me stand. He pulled me against his chest as I started to cry, feeling so much regret for giving our daughter up and not even bothering to check up on her after she was gone.
After awhile, Ezekiel pulled away and turned me around in his arms before drawing me back to his chest and resting his head on mine.
"Atalaya, I would like you to meet Ivy, our descendant."
I wiped away the tears that were undoubtedly still on my face and tried my best to smile at Ivy.
The teenager gave me an appraising look, sizing me up before she held out her hand for me to shake.
Before I could grab her hand to shake it, the girl bent over and started coughing.
I pulled away from Ezekiel and laid a hand on the girl's back looking up at him, worriedly.
"What's wrong with her?"
He shrugged. "I have absolutely no idea. She's been doing that for a week now she said."
I frowned and turned back the girl, flooding my healing into her body and trying to look for the source of the problem. Once I found it, I pulled away from her entirely, still frowning.
"She turning immortal." I paused and the spoke to Ivy. "How old are you Ivy?"
"I'm 18 since last Friday." Each of her words were punctuated by a cough or two.
"We need to bring her to the house." I stood up and gestured my familiars forward.
Eshe, Esi, lead her out of this place.
They each took a side and let Ivy lean on them, slowly walking with her back the way we'd originally come.
Ezekiel grabbed my arm to stop me from following them. "You can't take her to the house. Dustin will kill me."
