It wasn't easy, but I managed to pull myself off the floor of my bedroom to silence my alarm.
Eshe and Esi had kept me warm during the night, their bodies on either side of me, making me feel like a child almost. It had been a long time since we'd slept like this. I missed it.
The silence that came after turning the alarm off left me with a ringing in my ears that made me wince.
"I'm sorry ladies, but I will have to leave you." I said as I headed towards the closet, wanting to get out of the clothes I was still wearing from yesterday.
The leopards barley lifted their heads to blink at me lazily before they went back to sleeping.
I shook my head at them, smiling as I opened the doors to my closet and sorted through the different shirts and dresses there.
A black dress caught my eyes as I passed over it and then went back to it. It was longer dress, something I didn't wear very often, but remembered buying only because I like feeling the fabric against my bare legs.
I pulled it from the hanger and studied it for a few seconds longer before I nodded, deciding on it.
The dress slipped over my head easily, and I sighed, happy with my choice. I walked towards my attached bathroom, only because I needed to do something about yesterday's makeup and my no doubt ratty hair.
I was right. I looked terrible. Sleeping with makeup on was not something I'd ever recommend to anyone.
"Bugger." I sighed and then turned on the faucet. The water was cold, but it would help to wake me up.
Taking a washcloth that I always had in the bathroom, I wet it and then scrubbed at the leftover makeup on my face. I was lucky that it didn't take long to come off. Sometimes it took forever.
And then it was time to reapply makeup, but this time so I didn't look like an undead zombie or a gothic psycho clown.
Eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss, foundation done, I turned my attention on my hair instead. It was horrid, and I had a limited amount of time to fix it.
I simply ran my brush and then comb through it to get the worst of the tangles out, and then added some mousse to it so it looked better than it was. A simple messy braid was all I needed to complete my look.
Walking back into my bedroom, I spotted my ballerina flats and slipped them on, finally ready for school.
Because of the dress, I wouldn't be able to take my beloved motorcycle, and instead I would have to ride with Dustin. The vampyre was already ready, turning towards me as soon as I touched the last step.
He smiled when he saw that I had chosen to go 'girly' for once and I rolled my eyes at him, already knowing what he was thinking.
"Ye look nice, lass."
Again, I rolled my eyes. "I'm aware, otherwise I'd still be upstairs." He chuckled and shook his head.
"Let's go then." He started towards the front door, his car keys suddenly twirling on his index finger.
I frowned suddenly, looking around for the shape-shifter that had been making our lives a living hell for about two days. "Ezekiel?"
"He's going tae be watching over the children for today. I'll watch them tomorrow." He didn't look back as he opened the door and headed towards his car, me trailing behind him.
Truthfully, I'd forgotten about Ivy and Rowan for awhile. I'd had something else on my mind all night and my mind was still a bit hazy, fogged with sleep.
