She dwelled in confusion and in surprise,
It had happened so quickly; seconds ago all had been fine,
She'd been walking the street as was her daily routine,
Gazing at the stars like always just as merrily.
She hadn't seen the dark shadow behind her,
Nor looked around the dark; failed to infer,
Hadn't heard the footsteps of the shameless,
Lord knows how many others he'd marred still remain nameless.
Though felt she- his cold hand around her waist creep,
Grabbed her hair to pull her into the consuming darkness,
Heard his rough whisper; breath in her ear she did feel,
Shock surged through her; could this be really happening?
Not her; she wasn't meant to be-
That girl starring the sympathetic headlines,
No she wasn't to be a victim,
A face to be pitied by even by the deaf and blind,
Mattered not as soundlessly; without a single tear she cried,
She hadn't even fought, not kicked nor tried.
Now here she lay unclad against the floor,
Tied up in ropes of impossible knots and more,
She wanted to get away but saw no possible escape,
Drowning in her fear of the inevitable rape.
He advanced over her; sick smile on his face
She looked at him in disgust of his ways,
He maimed and she felt his anger,
So harsh; over her skin ignited a raging fire.
She pleaded; begged; screamed in pain,
He acted as she said not a word like she was willing,
She tried to punch him;he didn't feel a thing,
Lost in his own desire as was he; she knew he would win.
It was cold; she was over,
With nothing left within her,
Wondered why he left her alive,
Did he want to torture her more with her shameful life?
She knew exactly what the world would say,
It was her fault; she was the one to blame,
Her figure-hugging dress had invited rape,
It wasn't his fault at all; oh none but him.
With a country like this he'd probably roam around free,
Doing this to other girls in his own pleasure; no pain for him to see,
Her life was done; she'd never get back her dignity,
She wanted death; nothing more did she want to feel,
Sirens sounded; someone had somehow known to call the authorities,
She drifted to unconsciousness; sinking into her humiliation deep.
