"I don't know if I can do this." I looked around the completely packed airport. "I didn't get to know any of you guys at all, even though I spent all 17 years of my life with you. I still can't remember your names. I can barely remember what you guys look like."
"It's okay. We'll come visit you at one point." I was on the phone with mum. I didn't want to leave so early. I wanted to get to know everyone. This was my family, and I barely knew who they were. I wanted to see my home. I wanted to see the people who I called friends. I wanted to see the rest of my family.
"Flight 235 to Greensburg Airport is now boarding at Gate 23." The loudspeaker echoed through the whole airport.
"I guess we can talk when you get there. If you can't remember where Gate 23 is, just ask someone. Safe journey, Katja."
"Bye." I hung up the phone, grabbed my suitcase and followed the signs to the boarding gate. Security is the most confusing thing to get through if you never flew before - or had no memory of flying. Fumbling with boarding passes, passports, bags, taking out liquids and foods and putting them in seperate bags... It isn't fun. At all.
The actual plane ride was... Something. The man in the seat next to me fell asleep on my shoulder the entire 10 hour flight. When I had to go to the bathroom, the woman next to me wouldn't let me past for whatever reason. Note to self: NEVER sit in the middle seat again. Especially when you're beside a tired man and a woman with severe anger issues who doesn't let you urinate.
When I arrived in America, there was a man with my name on a piece of paper. I introduced myself and he told me about how he was my taxi driver to SOSS. The drive took 4 hours and it was almost 8:30 when I arrived, but I couldn't believe my eyes. The campus was beautiful. Flower patches dotted the gardens leading up to the door to the building. As soon as I walked in the door, people were approaching me, asking me about my journey and how I was coping. Then I was approached by the founder of SOSS, Mrs. Gatto.
"Dah-ling Katja!" She was a very short, skinny woman. She had short ginger hair with a massive, thick fringe and glasses. She looked like she was in her late 40's or 50's. She had a very heavy British accent.
"Er, hi..." I was really nervous. I wanted to make a good impression, but I was really shy. As far as I was concerned, I didn't have many conversations before.
"Welcome to the School Of Supernatural Studies! You're going to love it here! You'll learn how to blah blah blah, blah blah, blah!" I wasn't even listening. I was looking at all the people walking around the school. Everyone I saw were rushing to get to class on time.
Mrs. Gatto led me to a room at the very top of the corridor. "Room 43 - Meetings Room". She held the door open for me with a massive grin on her face. The room had a huge table, around 50 seats on either side. There was 7 people, around my age, seated around it.
"Now, now! Here we are!" Mrs. Gatto said cheerfully as she walked into the room. "This is our last subject, Katja Williams!" She pulled out a chair for me beside one of the other girls at the table.
"You guys can stay here, get to know eachother, I'm just going to go get your class schedules, uniform, a copy of the school rules... You know, things like that. Toodles!"
