Dear Anonymous,

I am seriously worried about you. I know that you think that your petition is going to get somewhere, but believe me, it isn't. All your going to do is help people get bad grades and get in trouble with their parents.

I understand petitioning something important. Something that will improve our safety or protect our rights, but homework? Really?

Homework helps you prepare for the real world. A world where they don't give you unlimited chances. Where if you aren't prepared, you won't get a detention or a, "stern talking to." You'll get fired, and with that, lose your ability to earn the money that you need to get by in this world.

Besides, is homework really that bad? Cause if you think so, then okay, don't do it. But please, don't try to drag people who want to get far in life into it. People who want to succeed and get a decent salary.

And another thing. Don't you dare think that being raised with little money, divorced parents, or alcoholic parents means that you can't get far in life.

My mom was from the Philippines and when she came here to marry my dad, she was able to fit all of her belongings in a single suitcase, with extra space still available. She didn't have much, and even though we don't have much money to spare, we still get by.

My dad's father left him when my dad was 5 years old. Then when his mom remarried, both her and my dad's stepfather were alcoholics. So naturally, he didn't care much about his grades or his future. He didn't think very highly of himself and didn't think there was a point in trying to succeed. He also never finished college. But now here he is, with a wife and two daughters that he loves to no end.

And yes, once again, we don't have much, but we have something. And that's because when my dad got older, he realized that he needed to try to succeed. My mom never stopped trying. They were able to raise two children and instilled proper morals in both of us. They are my heroes and they inspire me to be the best that I can be.

So yeah. Just because you don't have much doesn't mean that you can't succeed. Did my parent succeed in the money department? No, not really, but they were able to raise a loving household with two kids who will never give up on success. Are we a bit too ambitious at times? Sure, but we don't give up our successes. And remember, your life isn't over until you die, so make the most out of your time here on earth, and make your life memorable.

-Leona
