I pulled my legs up and hugged them as I scowled at the wall, my phone pinned to one ear. My mother was blabbering on the other line how she was so proud of my cousin for beating all those other Asian countries in the Asian Figure Skating Competition. Leave it to my mother to put her only child in disconcert just because she was the only one in the family who wanted to pursue a medical related course while the rest took something related to the arts and humanities.
"It's been years since some of the other relatives have seen you so they would love for you to come to the family reunion next weekend!"
Yeah, right. So they can embarrass me with their countless achievements as actors and theater performances and directors.
"Wu Xiao hui, are you listening to me?"
I groaned. "Yes, mother. I heard every single word."
"Good! So you will drag your ass back here in China next week. I will not take no for an answer."
I rested my head on the headboard and muttered. "Do I even have a choice?"
"What was that young woman?"
"Nothing, mom. I said yeah, sure, okay."
"Great! And one more thing. Do you have a boyfriend?"
"What?! Mom what the--"
"I don't care if he's geeky or not but I am requiring you to take one. It's not that hard to look for one over the span of a week. Why, when I was younger--"
Not this again.
"Mom, mom! Stop! I get it! Fine! I will! Now I have to go to do...some of my stuff okay?"
I can almost see her rolling her eyes at the end of the line. "Fine! Next week okay? And buy a dress, for God's sake!"
I breathed a sigh of relief as the line cut off. I felt my hands clenching involuntarily in frustration and, the next thing I knew, I was hurling my alarm clock towards the wall. And I was screaming.
"Yah. Yah."
I stopped and my gaze shifted to my bedroom door which was now ajar. It was Jungkook. His hands were dug inside his pockets as he walked towards the wall I just used as a dart board. He scooped up my alarm clock - at least what's left of it - in one hand and looked at me with a sneer.
"You're a mess when you're frustrated."
"Frustrated is an understatement, Kookie. I am a volcano that's ready to spurt out all the hot lava I've been gathering up at being dormant for a thousand years!"
My face hit my pillow as I screamed again. I heard him laugh as I felt my mattress dipping to accommodate his weight. He rubbed y back and turned my head to look at him.
"Hey, stop crying." His hand moved to my cheek and brushed across them.
"I'm not--" I felt the moisture of his thumb and cursed as I wiped my other cheek and it came back wet.
Damn, my period must be near.
"Talk to me. It's been a long time since you did."
He was right. We were the only ones with the same age, 24, so he was my other confidante in some things that were not so...confidential. The part about m liking Taehyung all these years that I even write letter for him in my laptop? That information was exclusively for Namjoon oppa's ears. Kookie had take a leave for almost two months and he'd come back only last week. We all weren't a fan of Skype so we had no contact whatsoever when we went on our separate ways for vacation. I was going to suggest we dive into group chats starting the next break season.
