It was almost after two weeks that I was even allowed to go outside on the porch.
I still don't know what the blue eyed mans name was. He didn't really talk to me much and the only time he left was to go get food which was an advantage because he would ask me what I wanted and I would already have a whole list picked out. I have to admit it was funny to watch him walk in with all of the groceries in his hands. Maybe five bags on each hand. I know what you're thinking 'why didn't you leave while he was gone?' Well, I couldn't. There were many reasons. We were out in the middle of nowhere and by the time I got out to civilization he would track me down and lock me down completely, I know because I tried. I never made it to a town let alone another house but he easily found me and tied me up in the kitchen which was really boring. Also I just couldn't leave and I had no idea why. It's not like I had a family to get back to or anything really. All I would do if I got home would be to go to work everyday trying to pay bills that are now probably so high that I won't pay it off and then I would have to use my college money to pay it and then I wouldn't be able to actually go to college and get a good job, it's not like that was a big chance. I was struggling and now I'm not. I find myself not even thinking about it anymore. And that's my problem. I need to get out but I can't.
~~
"We're leaving." He said and just walked out of the room.
I rushed after him. "What do you mean we are leaving. I can't leave with you. I need to leave. I can't do this anymore. I have people I need to get back to and I don't even know you why would I go anywhere with you?" There were many lies in those statements but he didn't need to know that.
"You're lying. You have no one to get back to, I know. I've been watching and no one comes to your house and I checked all your records. All you do is work all day and go to school because you have to. You have no choice anyways, the police will be here in twenty minutes so we leave now. I am not in a mood to deal with your shit so please, just come with me with no struggle. They wouldn't believe you anyways. I already did what needed to be done."
He walked away and I knew he was right so I had to follow him. I got in the car and he drove away. I knew then that this wasn't over. I was going to always regret leaving my house and nothing could change that. Not anymore. And I knew I was never going to see my house again or anyone I used to know. It would only mess things up more than they already were. And now I had to learn how to work with this monster I didn't even know. I had to learn how to be acquainted with him at least and get along with him because for some reason I knew we were going to be with each other for a very long time.
~~
"So...Where are we going?" I tried to be friendly so he had to answer. He had no reason not to. Right?
He looked over for barely a second then put his eyes back onto the road. "We are going to a place that we will hide out at for a couple of days maybe."
"And where is that?"
"Virginia."
I can't say I was surprised. To be honest I could care less where we are going. I just wanted out but I knew that wouldn't happen. So I just turned away and stared out the window.
"You know we might as well become friends. We are going to be with each other for quite a while. We have to learn to cooperate with each other." Now those were words that I was surprised to hear out of him mouth.
"Well okay we could start by telling names."
"My name is Carson Black, and yours is Evelyn Maves. I already know."
Well that was just rude. "How do you know my name?"
"Well it wasn't really that hard to get information on you. I just took your ID out of your wallet did a little research and there you are."
"Oh well. I guess that makes sense. So you know about my parents then."
"Yes I do."
I didn't want to talk anymore but I knew I had to get more information on him.
"So you want to play a game?" It was worth a try.
"What game exactly? If it is I spy or anything childish then no."
I laughed. "No I ask you a question you answer honestly and then you ask me one back. It's called 20 or 21 questions I don't remember but I don't want to put a limit on the questions since we are going to be here for a long time."
"Yeah sure why not. You start."
"Why did you really take me with you? You could have just killed me and left me there or just left me. But you didn't. Why?"
"You weren't my objective and you were in my way. It was either let my face be recognized or just take you and have some company on the way. I mean I could care less but it didn't seem like you had any other plans either. I mean you were just walking around at night." He looked at me with a devilish glint in his eyes. "Hasn't anyone ever told you walking around at night can be dangerous?"
I turned away. "Not for a while no. I guess I forgot."
"Well why were you walking around anyways?"
I couldn't tell him the real reason. He'd think I was crazy or weird and I didn't want to seem like any of those, not to him. I had no idea why.
"I just felt like I needed some fresh air so I decided to walk around for a little bit and then I heard some grunting in an alley way so I went to check it out. I didn't know I was going to be witnessing a murder scene."
"I did it out of self defense. He was going to kill me and I couldn't have that. I had to take care of some things and get out of town. He was in the way and you shouldn't have witnessed that."
I didn't want to ask anymore questions but I had to know.
"What will happen now?"
"You will have to stay with me. It won't be safe for you to leave. I already made it obvious that you were there and helping me. They would only arrest you and they have enough evidence to blame you. It's too late now so I guess you will be stuck with me for a while." He looked at me and smirked.
I didn't want to do this. I didn't want to be wanted. And I surely as hell didn't want to be with this guy. His smirk made me want to slap him and at the same time kiss him. I didn't want this.
