This is a story I had to write as an assignment for Spanish class. This is the original English version, however, the next part will be the Spanish version. The simplistic and carefree style is that of a children's story. Sooo, read this to your children or nieces and nephews or grandchildren or younger siblings or whoever cares to read this for whatever reason.
There once was a lazy turtle. Every day he ate an apple, drew pictures in the sand, and took naps. He was happy.
One day the turtle saw a message in a bottle washed up on the beach. The lazy turtle looked at it in boredom. He had seen a lot of other messages wash up on the shore and he wondered if this one would be any different. He still decided to open the bottle anyways. He found a message written in a pretty writing. It said "Help me! I am a princess and I want to explore the world!" The lazy turtle found a map on the back of the page and he began his journey to the spot marked on the map.
The lazy turtle hurried down the path and after an hour of travel, he found his feet beginning to get wet from the ocean. He checked the map again and saw that to get to the princess, he would have to cross the ocean. "I need help!" Cried the lazy turtle to a bunch of seagulls, "I must get across the ocean to the princess!"
"Ok," the seagulls replied in unison. The lazy turtle gathered his things and journeyed for several hours to the group of seagulls. He finally got up on their backs and the birds took flight. The lazy turtle flew until he reached a new land. He got off of the birds and saw another turtle a few feet from him. In the hours that he approached the other turtle, he noticed it was a girl turtle.
"Are you the princess?" The lazy turtle asked.
"Yup" she replied. The two talked more and eventually traveled the world together, going at their own slow but comfortable pace.
