"I thought that you could just help me with the money"

"What do I do with that?"

"Well, people give you money for the bread, you give them change"

"Sounds simple"

"I didn't need help with the baking, as not a lot of people buy bread anyways"

"Alrighty" Nick said. He was nervous, he didn't know if Kevin could tell but he was nervous. He didn't want to screw anything up.

As if Kevin sensed his nervousness, Kevin came up from behind Nick and hugged him "You're going to do great"

"Thanks" Nick said as he leaned into the hug and hugged Kevin back.

Kevin smiled at Nick as he let go of the hug. He walked over to the windows and as he was about to open them, he looked at Nick and said "You ready to start the day?"

"As ready as I'll ever be"

-A few hours later-

Kevin was horrendously wrong, for some unknown reason the bakery was as busy as ever. In fact, this was the busiest day that he has ever experienced while working the bakery. It was good for business, but bad for Nick who looked like he was about to explode in a minute.

When Kevin was baking and was sure they wouldn't run out of bread he decided that he'd help with Nick. When he walked over to Nick's area he thought that things have been running smoothly, he was dead wrong.

"Uhm, well uhm" Nick fumbled with the money that had just been given to him "He gave me a 20, and his bill was 14, how much was his change again?" Nick closed his eyes "Think, Nick, Think, you know what it is, calm down"

"Here's your change sir" Nick was surprised, he turned and saw Kevin smiling and handing the man his change.

"Nick, why don't you take a break? I can handle the rest, it's only 5 minutes till closing"

"Maybe I can clean up instead?"

"No I can handle that also, it's fine Nick, you can go upstairs and sleep" Kevin smiled.

"Now he thinks I'm stupid and incompetent" Nick thought as he frowned and made his way upstairs.

"I can't fucking do anything right" Nick said as he took off his shirt and threw it across the room.

-A few minutes later-

The bakeshop was closed, and he'd cleaned up. Kevin couldn't wait to go upstairs and go to sleep. It had been a busy day and he couldn't wait to just close his eyes and fall asleep. He suddenly remembered how Nick was earlier and decided to check up on Nick.

He opened Nick's door and went in. The first thing he saw was Nick laying face down on the bed and Nick's shirt on the floor. "Is this dirty Nick? Or are you gonna use it again?"

Nick raised his head from the pillow to look at Kevin "Don't worry Kevin, I know how to wash my clothes, I'm not that stupid"

Kevin looked at him confused "I never said you were stupid Nick"

Kevin just looked at Nick again and tried to think of the time he may have called or implied that Nick was stupid. He didn't think for long.

"Nick, when I took over a while ago, I wasn't implying you were stupid, I knew you've been working the whole day and since I was done baking, I thought I could help"

Nick laughed "You didn't even let me help you clean the kitchen, I'm that stupid Kevin? I couldn't even clean the kitchen"

"I didn't mean it like that Nick"

"Whatever"

"You could've just told me I was stupid"

"But I don't think you're stupid Nick"

"Just put me on cleaning duty tomorrow, unless you think I'm really too stupid for it"

"I didn't fucking say you were stupid, quit fucking putting words in my mouth" Kevin glared at Nick.

Kevin knew that it was going to be pointless arguing with Nick, both of them just needed to calm down and rest.

Kevin got out of Nick's room and went back to his.

When he lay down on his bed, he was immediately relaxed. He closed his eyes, hoped for a better day tomorrow and immediately drifted off to sleep.
