A New Mission After Another

During our mission Neji didn’t talk much. Our mission lasted three days and all it was babysitting some kids who were the feudal lord of the land of fire sisters children. When we got back to the village Neji finally talked.

“You’re not mad are you?” he said turning his face so I couldn’t see it.

“Uh, about what?”

“About making you stay behind when we heard that Ten Ten was I trouble.”

“Why would I be mad about that?” I asked as we entered the hall to go to the Hokage’s office.

“Never mind lets go talk to the Hokage.” He said blushing a little and I nodded with a smile. When we entered the Hokage’s office Naruto was sitting in front of her desk like he was waiting for something.

“Uh Naruto aren’t you supposed to be training?” I asked and he looked up at me with a mad look.

“No I have been waiting for you and Neji to come back from your mission.” He said. Neji and I looked at the Hokage for an explanation and she was searching through stacks of papers.

“Shizune send for Ten Ten.” She said and Shizune nodded and ran out of the office.

“You two I have another mission for you.” The Hokage yelled sending a shiver down our spines.

“You two are going to form a four man squid with Ten Ten and this halfcocked jerk.”  She said pointing at Naruto who was smiling back.

“Neji will be the leader with Marrissa second in charge. Naruto and Ten Ten will tell you the details on the way.” She said folding her arms.

“Lady Tsunde I’m here.” Ten Ten said running into the room.

“Go or I will kick you out myself.” The Hokage yelled and we ran down the hall as she stood up and slammed her hands on the desk. As we ran out of the building Naruto bumped into someone and grabbed them by the arm and we ran to the entrance to the village. As we walked down the path Naruto explained our mission to us. We had to exterminate a ghost in the land of birds and protect their feudal lord. Neji and I were ahead of the group and Naruto was talking to his friend about the ghost being real or not.

“Ugggh, we have another mission the last one was tiring enough now we have to go get rid of a ghost.” I complained.

“You’re starting to sound like Shikamaru.” Neji said and I put my arms behind my head.

“What a drag.” I said and we both laughed.

“Didn’t you have to chase after a baby that ran off, and then the older son kept chasing you and demanding you to be his wife.”

“Yea that was touchier.”

We walked up to a top of a hill and then we had to stop and wait for Naruto’s friend to catch up to us. When he caught up to us we continued walking up until we come to a cliff.  We jumped up the cliff and Naruto had to carry his friend on his back. When sunset came we decided to have a campfire and rest for the night. We cooked rice and we placed them in wooden bowls and we started eating them and Naruto’s friend staring eating them in seconds. We looked at him shocked he threw the sixth bowel on the floor.

“Um. Is there any more?” He asked.

“You sure eat considering you’re thin.” Ten Ten said handing him another bowl of rice.

“I’m sorry. I’m often consider a skinny voracious eater.” He said and continued eating.

“Hey is there really such a thin as the Cursed Warrior?” Naruto asked.

“There are people who say it’s the disembodied spirit of the previous feudal lord, Lord Owashi.”

“The disembodied spirit of a dead feudal lord.” Naruto said and then he started to get scared.

“Rather than ghost, tell us a little more about the Land of Birds.” Neji asked.

“Sure.  The capitol of the Land of Birds stretches across the banks of the lake where migratory birds rest. It was a peaceful town with lots of green and where water from the lake would be drawn into the canals. However, after the sudden death of the previous feudal lord, there was much uproar. His son Lord Sagi and Lord Komei, the tactician from previously were nominated to be the next feudal lord. But lord Komei thought Lord Sagi was still too young and was vehemently opposed to him assuming the feudal lordship. But in the end, Lord Sagi took the seat of the feudal lord and the matter was closed with Moso the high priest providing tutelage as superintendent official. However before even half a year passed, Lady Toki, his twin sister, died suddenly. After that, Lord Sagi who was so cheerful turned into a totally different person became coldhearted and he now conducts governmental matters confined in his mansion. From about that time, the “Cursed Warrior” began appearing in the castle town. Those in the castle town say that Lord Owashi was killed by someone. There are even those who say that the Cursed Warrior is the ghost of Lord Owashi searching for the person who drove him to death and attempting his revenge.”

“That’s scary.” Naruto said and he started trembling.

“Hmp. There’s no such thing as ghosts.”  Neji said while I poked the fire.

“But. That priest Moso is the one who gained the most from Owashi’s death, huh?” Neji continued.

“Lord Moso is a magnificent person of virtue with no self-interests!”

“Then the suspicious one is.” Naruto said confused.

“The only one left is Komei the Tactician! I bet he assassinated Owashi in an attempt to become the feudal lord, but failed!” Ten Ten pointed out.

“He has complained whenever opportunity offered itself after Lord Sagi became the feudal lord as well! A tactic like tormenting Lord Sagi by darting the rumor about the Cursed Warrior might be a piece of cake for Lord Komei!”

“Alright! There’s no doubt. It’s settled. The true identity of the Cursed Warrior is Komei!” Naruto said throwing a fist up in the air.

“The true Identity of the ghost is revealed, huh?” Neji said. And everybody smiled but I did the opposite. Neji looked at me and his smile disappeared.

“Marrissa.” H said and I looked up at him.

“It could be him or somebody could have hired someone to pretend to be a ghost but we should keep our options open.” I said and he nodded.
