I sit on a rock starring at the sunset over the pond that I call a lake. I  am not aloud home until 10 o clock at night and need something to do. Sometimes I wish I could swim in there but I can't. I could when my Dad was around though.

"Private property!" I hear someone yell "Get out, before I call the cops!"

I jump up and run through the tall grass and past the house the man was calling from. I run down the street a little and sit down once I am a good distance from the house. I sit down on the side of the road and watch the cars go by. I pick up a rock and through it over the cars. At least an hour goes by before it's dark. I stand up and walk down the street kicking the rocks with my white converse that are turning gray because they get so dirty. I turn right down a road and see the big "Oak Hill" sign. I live in a trailer park with my mom and brother. I then walk down the gravel road to my trailer which happens to be in the back. I open the door praying its ten o clock. I smell a bad smell and see my mom on the couch with her beer. I immediately know it's to early.

"Hey!" Shouts my mom "You aian't suppose to be back yet!"

I back up towards the back wall as she walks towards me with her belt. I turn towards the wall as she hits me several times.

"Get out!" She yells "Learn your lesson to tell time!"

I run outside keeping my tears in. I run down the gravel road to the very front of the trailer park. I sit down in the grass by the sign. Only a few minutes go by when I see Matt. My brother.

"What's wrong?" He says sitting down next to me.

I put my long blonde hair over my shoulders and turn around so my back faces him.

"It's okay. Don't worry. She will be leaving soon." He comforts me.

"Where does ma go?" I ask him looking up to his big blue eyes like mine.

"With her boyfriends." He replies "She has a lot. She does it for the money."

I stand up and Matt puts his arm over my shoulder. Matt don't look like me much. He had black hair but blue eyes like me. He is 2 years older then me, almost 3 here in bout a month. We walk home and open the door. Beer bottles on the floor but no sign of Ma.

"Mom?" I ask as I walk in.

No reply.

"Its our time to watch t.v!" He says.

We turn on the little t.v and watch the news.  Time goes by and I begin to feel tired.

"I'm going to bed." I tell Matt.

"Good night."

I walk into our room and lay down on the matress. I close my eyes and imagine a better life.

Only eight more years.. I say over and over.
