Ryan didn't set me on my own feet outside of the horrible room, instead he continued to carry me until we were well away from it. "Ryan," I managed to mumble out in my dazed state, "put me down." I started to wiggle, trying to get out of his hold.
His grip tightened. "No Ella," he denied with sympathy lacing his voice. I continued to struggle, trying desperately to get away. Suddenly my eyelids drooped. My energy drained by an unknown force. Giving up my short attempt at struggling, I slumped back against Ryan.
"I just want Kaylee," I mumbled against the fabric of his red shirt. In fact, I just wanted anything to chase the hellish thoughts away.
The bluish gray walls of SLOW MOD slowly past by as the steady swaying of Ryan's steps brought us closer and closer to his destination. Where were we going? I voiced my thoughts, and in return got no reply. Did he not think I could handle where we were going? In a rash of quick thinking, I quickly pressed my lips to Ryan's unsuspecting ones.
A startled intake of breath signaled Ryan's surprise. I took his momentary lapse in guard to break his hold and jump free.
My feet were wobbly when I landed on them. Taking a moment to gain my balance, I started running in a random direction. I was aiming for Maya's room, hoping I would make it before Ryan could catch up to me.
He let out a terrible yell of my name, calling me to stop, from behind me.
I couldn't, wouldn't, stop. I was on a mission. A mission that involved knowing where Elijah and Tyler's new room was, and Dr. Wallace held the key to that information. Now all I had to do was find her room, which was... where again?
I turned a corner and, thanks to my luck, smacked into someone's chest. This unknown male and I tumbled to the ground, with me landing on top of him. Please don't be Kaden, please don't be Kaden. I did not need to deal with Ryan and Kaden. Mortified, I slowly lifted my head and peered into a pair of light blue eyes. Ryan? No- he didn't have blonde hair- his locks were a light chestnut brown.
Tyler?!
Shoving back from him, I clambered to my feet as I felt Ryan come to a stop behind me.
The baby blue orbs that were Tyler's eyes lazily flicked from me to Ryan over my shoulder. "She's quite a handful, don't ya think?" He laughed at the look on Ryan's face. I didn't glance back, afraid of what I 'would' find there. At least it was just Tyler I ran into. Literally running into him had to be better than bumping into Kaden with Ryan on my trail, right?
Tyler stood until he was at his full height of just a few inches taller than me. He must have saw the relief flood my features because his eyebrows tiled ever so slightly towards each other. He looked as if he wanted to say something, but Ryan took his chance by saying, "I was just taking Ms. Penning to see Dr. Wallace. She hasn't been feeling to well." My back stiffened and I shifted my footing so that my back was to the wall and both Ryan and Tyler were in front of me.
Tyler's eyes switched to me with a look that read: 'First tequila, now this?' "Looking for the Doc, huh?" he mused, "Well, as it turns out, I was just heading there myself. I can take Ms. Penning from here, if ya like."
Both mine and Tyler's eyes turned expectantly to Ryan, awaiting his anticipated answer. Was he going to let me go with Tyler that easily? Maybe Ryan trusted him while he didn't Kaden. "Okay," he finally sighed. He seemed to be talking to me when he said, "Just try to be careful."
Right. Sir, yes, sir! Not. I wasn't going to take orders from anybody. But... maybe I should play it safe and be careful. I needed Tyler to trust me, so I could steal his phone charger, and charge my phone for Isabelle and Maris.
I nodded to Ryan, so he would think I was agreeing, and headed off with Tyler. Many thoughts were swimming through my mind. How exactly was I going to get this charger from Tyler without him knowing? I would have to ask him for something, water maybe, to get him to leave the room. One problem solved, many, many more to go. Where were we going? That's an easy one too, just ask him.
"Are we going to your room?" D@mn, now I sounded like I wanted to go to his room. Which I kind of did, but for the charger.
He let out a laugh, shoulders relaxing as Ryan disappeared from sight. I guess I wasn't the only one he put on edge. "Yeah," he confirmed, "It's just up ahead, shouldn't take us long to get there."
Two problems down, on to the next one. I took a deep breath. This one was hard to deal with, and I didn't know if I could. 'Was Kaden really as dangerous as Ryan would have me believe?' I wasn't sure. My thoughts went back to Elijah's room... and lingered. Dark twisted thoughts and memories of the room swirled through my head.
My breathing shallowed, an early symptom of me having a panic attack. This couldn't happen now! Not with Tyler walking a few feet from me. Not when this just happened not ten minutes ago with Ryan. I tried to force the disturbing panic enduring thoughts from my mind.
It didn't work.
I stopped midstride in the middle of the hallway with Tyler close beside me. "What?" He asked, blue eyes darting around the hall looking for some unseen foe. I shook my head, my breaths now coming in quiet gasps. My mind grew darker and darker as the minutes slowly ticked by and my panic set in.
The corners of my vision had started to fade to black when I saw Tyler pull a small syringe from his pocket.
The panic grew into a living thing that swam through my veins.
"Ella," Tyler calmed, or tried to. I couldn't think of anything else other than the needle firm in his grip.
Before I realized what was happening, Tyler launched at me with the syringe full of- who knows what! The unknown liquid was ejected into my bloodstream. There was no stopping what was going to happen.
Oh god.
The world tipped and lurched as a wave of dizziness overtook me.
What was that?
Moreover, was I going to die!?! Was Tyler going to drag me back to his secret lair and slice me up while no one can hear my screams?!
I swayed on my feet, vision going in and out of focus. Noise seized to exist as the floor rose up to greet me.
