~*~ Slender Man's POV ~*~

I may resent my brother most of the time but he can have a good idea. I'm just trying to figure out how I didn't come to this conclusion sooner.

"I truly do want to get close to her, but I killed her Father. Why would she want me Trender?"I asked, pacing in front of my eldest brother.

"Why don't you just go human around her Slend? It's not that difficult to figure out" He says, filing his nails.

"Dammit Trend. She's got me all messed up. Thanks though. See ya after school." And with that I was off to get ready for my first day of high school.

How can I, The Slender Man, be 'love drunk' as the humans would say? I refuse to understand how one fragile human can have me torn in a million different directions. And the worst part about this is, I killed her father. And now she gets beaten on a daily basis. And it's all my fault. And I have the nerve to love her.

I used to not have human emotions. Not until ten years ago. Not until Penelope moved here at the age of five. It's a day I both hate and love.

**Ten Years Ago** (Third Person POV)

The Sanders pulled into the driveway to their new home. The five year old twin daughters, Kathrynne and Penelope, slept soundlessly after the nine hour car ride. The happy young and married couple, Amber and Ethan, talked quietly to assure that their girls didn't wake up.

The unknown creature lurched in the woods, waiting for a human to exit the car. It had been three days since his last meal and he was starting to get very hungry. And he always knew nobody would be too worried if he feasted on people new to the town

Ethan was the first one out the car, quick to run over and open the door for his beloved Amber. She thanked him and got Kathrynne out of her car-seat, as Ethan got Penelope out hers, both parents careful not to wake the sleeping child.

Kathrynne did not wake up as her mother carried her inside. But when her father almost tripped on a rock, Penelope awakened. She tried to escape her father's arms, with great success. Imeadentily the young girl ran to the large back yard, a place she loved.

Ethan went outside to collect his daughter, a few hours after they'd arrived at the house. It was dinner time and they were going out. That was when he saw the creature who held his life in his hands, with his daughter.

He didn't know what to think of the featureless creature, he just knew he needed to get his daughter away from it. Everything about the creature seemed to scream bad news. But Penelope was fully intrigued with the dangerous creature, telling him stories of her friends back at their old home, and the creature was actually listening to her. Ethan knew that the best idea would be to get her away from him.

"Penni, sweetie, it's dinner time and Mommy said we have to go out to eat." He called, using his daughter's nickname.

"Okay Daddy!" The child happily called, in a sing song voice that made the creature cringe.

"Bye Mr. Slender! Can I see you tomorrow?"

"Of course Penni!" He said, revealing the slit that was his mouth. The girl went up to offer him an innocent hug, one he gladly returned. Was it possible for him to actually like the human girl?

Ethan was terrified for Penelope by now. His hands were sweating and shaking when he saw his daughter talking to the creature. And his rage grew when the creature actually spoke to his daughter. And he couldn't hold it in any longer when they hugged. Ethan wasn't a genius but this thing was obviously male by the midnight black suit and blood red tie he wore. Penelope was only seven years old and this man- or creature- had no business hugging his little girl.

That was when he made his mistake. He ran to the spot where his daughter and the creature-who he was sure was not a man stood. He grabbed Penelope and moved her further out into the yard, facing the faceless creature alone. He tried to keep his heart from racing, but it wasn;t working very well.

The man stood before the unknown creature, his heart racing. The sound of the man's beating heart was music to the hungry creature's ears. He knew this man was Penni's father. And he knew he didn't want to cause any pain to Penni, but he couldn't help himself. The bloodlust was invading his mind, clouding his thoughts. All he could hear was the delusions sound of the man's racing heart.

He had barley know the man was speaking when he attacked. He shoved the defenseless man against a tree. Penelope shrieked, scared of her newest friend and terrified for her father. The human man acted as best he could upon the young child's terrified, ear piercing shriek.

"GO PENEOLPE! RUN! NOW!" He shouted harshly at the young girl. He was facing death, and he didn't want his beloved daughter to see it.

Terrified Penelope ran through the woods, the mid-October evening air chilling her lungs as she ran. Her legs burning, screaming in protest, and her lungs having trouble keeping up with her running pace, causing them to burn as well. She was pushing herself well beyond her comfort level, just trying to escape the creature who was probably tear her father apart, little by little.

Her tiny legs finally gave out as the creature came up behind her. She wouldn't move and she was breathing very heavily, which must be unhealthy for such a young girl. The creature found her just as she'd fallen. It worried him, she wouldn't move and it sounded as if she were barely breathing.

Carefully the creature lifted Penelope into his arms, making sure to be careful, not to harm the beauty. He teleported her to her room in her new house and laid her down on the pick blanket. The one her father would never get to tuck her into, or check for monsters.

The creature hesitated before leaving. Penni will be devastated tomorrow morning, and will probably remember him. He took his chance. He gently kissed her forehead and whispering, "One day soon Little Bird, one day soon."
