The Warrior of Shadows

The War

I could hear the sounds of cannon fire below.  We landed on the eastern outskirts of the battlefield and unloaded from the V-TOL quickly to get out there as soon as possible.  The sight of the dead was horrific and they reeked, but we were trained to ignore it.

"Okay men, CHARGE!" Stone commanded.

We got right to it making quick work of the foot soldiers but the heavy troops were taking us down easily.  We were losing and it was pathetic.  I've never seen such skilled fighters before but I could tell something hellish was fueling them. 

I was skilled but not enough.  A quick soldier took me by surprise and sliced me to pieces.  I fell to my knees as the tip of his tanto blade perforated my chest.  The pain was more excruciating than I've ever felt in my life.  I turned my head to see him smiling as he killed me.  Everything went black, I was dead!

I was drifting in an abyss of white.  Suddenly I fell to the floor and heard my legs crack, but I was fine.  I didn't understand what was going on and it was kind of weird.  These random dark figures approached and beat me to a pulp.  Then they burned and tortured me until I passed out.  I woke up on a cushioned surface in a warm calm environment.  I wasn't even soar from that torture.  There was a line of people leading up to a beautiful white gate, and then all of a sudden the gate opened and a figure of light approached me.  "Hello my child!" The figure said.  "God is that you," I asked.  "Yes, it is I your father and since you are the most faithful and determined follower of mine I am going to give you a second chance with all the power combined of the fallen warriors in the war that you died in.  You must destroy all the demons on earth and reseal the gates of Hell using the lock of Heavenly light." God explained to me.  "Yes, I will do your bidding to the best of my ability father." I exclaimed and then it went dark.
