~Vanoss and Mini's story~

Fall of the year 2004
~Vanoss's POV~

I skip around merrily as I found some extra scrap of food for me to eat tonight along with dinner. It's moldy bread, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

I skip all the way back to the orphanage just in time to see a new kid, around my age, being dropped off by a black van. I smiled and got a little closer to get a better look at the new kid, 'Hmm... short red hair, green eyes, and kinda short.' I smiled as I quietly slipped inside the crack in the wall on the side of the house. What? It was there when I got there... It wasn't as big, but... Never mind...

I crawled through the tight space and emerge into the... I guess the living room? Eh... Whatever this old dusty place is. Not that big of a room though. A little arm chair in the corner, a shaggy carpet, and a couple windows on two adjacent walls.

I walked through the room and glanced into the main hall to see the new kid looking down all shy-like. I chuckled a little which made the caretaker turn and give me a crooked smile, "Ah! Evan! Just the little man I wanted to see!" I sighed, "I thought I told you to call me Vanoss." She just brushed off my comment and continued, "This is Craig. He is your new roommate. Be nice to him and don't get him caught up in your stupid shenanigans." I smiled, "Alright! I won't." She glared at me, "Promise?" I looked her in those cold soulless eyes, and crossed my fingers behind my back, "I promise."

"Good." She replied and turned towards Craig, who still was looking down, "Craig. Please follow Ev... Ehem... Vanoss to your room." All he did was nod and start walking. I stood still and he seemed to continue to walk until he crashed into a plastic plant. He seemed shocked and confused, "Uh... Dude... That's a plant..." I tried not to laugh. He seemed to be embarrassed, so I walked to him and took his hand in mine, "Come on. Let's go to OUR ROOM!" I shouted and ran, dragging him along with me.

As he was unpacking he seemed to be placing things in weird places. Not your normal weird, but your weird... Weird... He just placed his shirt on the top of his bed and his pillow in the closet, "That must be one comfy shirt if you're gonna use it as a pillow." I joked and he flinched and grabbed his shirt off the bed and switched it with his pillow, "Are you stupid or something?" I asked.

He just sighed and turned towards me. He sat down on his bed looking down and mumbled just loud enough I was able to make out the words, "I can't see..." I was confused, "What do you mean?" "I can't see through my eyes... It's all a big blur..." He explained. I nodded and took his hand, "Well, let's see what the caretaker can do for you!" I pulled him down the stairs, past a few kids, and to the main hall, "Ms. Melony!" I yelled.

Melony jumped from her seat and stood to glare at me, "What do you want Vanoss!" She yelled back, "Craig said he can't see! Why?" Melony sighed and sat back down, "He needs glasses. His vision is too damaged to see. He needs strong lenses." I nodded, "Well... How do I get them?" She sighed and went back to reading the magazine I made her drop when I scared her, "He had an appointment but I just didn't feel like moving from this seat." I gave her an are you serious! look and sighed.

"Well... Then I am going to help you see!" I turned towards Craig who was staring at the back of my head the whole time. I made my voice drop to a whisper, "I just need you to follow me. Okay?" He seemed to think for a minute before nodding.

I smiled and took his hand and led him out of the building.

I walked down the street, my bag slung on one shoulder, and Craig's hand on the other. I walked until I spotted a store with giant glasses on the rooftop, "Aaaannnnddd.... We're here!" I presented the store and Craig looked around unable to spot it.
