Agler Spiros, my best friend. We laid down in an open grassland looking up at the cloudless sky. It was our favorite spot to go to think and just relax. The lake was only a small hike away and we'd probably go swimming after we grew tired of the sun.

It was the first Monday of my last summer at home. In three months I'd head to college at Brown University and Alger would go off to pursue his art career in California. I wanted to make this summer the best I could, I needed it in all honesty.

"Can you believe the freaking news?"

"I know, a whole civilization never discovered before, how in the world did our satellites and all our high technology crap miss them?" The news was booming now days with reports about the newly discovered civilization that just popped up off the northwest coast of Africa.

"I think it's a conspiracy. The Government has probably known about them for years and is just now telling the world about them." Agler sat up and looked down at me as he spoke.

"I highly doubt that. Not everything is a conspiracy you know."

"Yeah, yeah. You always believe what you're told. That's how they get'ya Mai."

I rolled my eyes at Agler. He always had the imagination. "I wonder how those people feel, you know. They have never been in contact with the outside world. I wonder what they think of us?"

"They probably think that we are very rude for barging in on them like that."

"They probably don't even care, as long as they get left alone."

"What are they going to do if we don't? Kill us with sticks." Agler joked as he set his head back down beside mine.

"Yeah, you never know what they are capable of."

"... Right. You know they are bringing one to the United States? Apparently this one is very intelligent and picked up English with ease."

"Oh yeah, I heard about that, said she learned the basics by just hearing the researchers talk in like a few days."

"Yeah, that's crazy."

"Tell me about, if I could learn stuff that fast I'd be a billionaire by now." I said smirking to myself

"Sure you would." Agler was always quick to burst a bubble

"I wonder what she looks like. I wonder what they all look like." I brushed Agler's remark off and continued with the conversation.

"I read somewhere that they are all blonde and blue eyed."

"Really, I read that they are all brown skin and curly hair."

"Where'd you read that?"

"Some random site."

"Well I guess we'll find out when they finally decided to reveal her to the public."

"I guess so. You ready to go swimming?" I asked growing tired of the subject

Agler answered me by standing up and reaching a hand down to help me up. His black hair was messy and his amber eyes pierced down at me in amusement.

"What?"

"Your hair is messy." Agler said holding in a laugh.

"So is yours."

"Really?" Agler ran his hands through his hair and shrugged.

"Yeah." I said pulling on my hair as I braided it into a fishtail braid.

"Remember when you were going to dye your hair black and pink."

"Yeah, My mom almost had a heart attack when she saw the hair dye."
