After awhile the rain let up completely and I decided that I should walk back to Elaine's. I brought the pup with me. I couldn't leave her alone. When I arrived, all her lights were out. So I messaged her,
'Elaine? I'm outside and its cold af. Lol let me in.'

No response. So I tried again.

'Heeelloooo? I have a puppy. She's pretty cold too. Open your window or something.'

Still nothing. So I tried to call her. Rang twice, then went to voicemail. A moment later I got this:
'I can't let you in here and you shouldn't be here right now.  Ur parents came by looking for you and said to call them if you showed up here. Idk if they will come back or not. I'm sorry. :('
Ouch.. Okay. Best friend. I understand.. I think.
So, freezing and hurt to such an extent... I did the unthinkable. I went home. I quietly walked through the opened doorway covered by a thick blanket. Mom was sitting on the couch, reading a book. It was like she was expecting me.. It was just like the freaking movies! It kinda made me mad. I didn't want her to think she won. I just had no other option. Without looking up from the book she said,
'Go ahead and get ready for bed, your principal called and you have to go to school tomorrow. Its the last day and you have to make up your exams.'
I sighed and walked past her without saying a word. I guess she didn't notice I had a puppy in my arms. I threw on some sweat pants and a T-shirt after stripping out of the soaked clothes and wrapping the baby in a fluffy blanket. Then I tossed myself onto a palette and pulled her close to me underneath a comforter. I was instantly warmer. She was still shaking.
'Is she scared?' I thought to myself. Poor girl.
"No one is going to hurt you anymore, I promise."
She calmed down a little when I put my hand on her back.
We stayed still the rest of the night. We needed a good nights sleep after today.
