Masons pov
The darkness can surround and engulf you. You have to be careful, not to be dragged down by the dark mist I call my demons.
I hide my anger and take it out on the ones who love me. I don't want to hurt them, but they are the ones who have molded me into this monster. They call me a whore. They call me stupid. They call me these names ut they have never seen below the surface.
"Hey." Nilah said. Her green eyes shining in the sun. They still flickered with her pure innocence.
"Hey." I smiled."So what'chya doin? " she giggled and leaned in to see what I was writing .
"Uh... nothing." I scooted the notebook away, out of her reach.
Her eyebrows and lips formed a frown and I can't stand it when she does that. So, I handed her the notebook. She flipped through the pages and her eyes flickered with sadness. Why did I give her that... fuck... that's me and now wtf is she gonna think... dammit.
My eyes must have shown my anxiety because not long after she closed the notebook and said, "it's okay. We all have our demons." She looked down at her hands. "Trust me, I'm not as happy as I seem either."I looked up alarmed. "Why.. why are you not happy?"
Her eyes...
Her eyes filled with tears and I wish I had never shown her that damn notebook. God dammit it's all my fault..."It's not that I'm not happy, it's just I'm not happy with me..." she said. Her baby pink lips quivering with tears rolling down her smooth cheeks."
I don't know what say..
"It's okay. I know this is a shocker for you. You always think of me so happy and innocent." Her eyes turned dark and cold.
"Is that a bad thing?" I asked.
"Maybe..." she got up from the table and walked away. Her long, curly dark brown hair flowing as she strides away.
Dammit.
