Dear Scott,
I never understood why you were so nice to everyone. Even when they stole your things. You would say "give that back," but they never did. I wish I could've punch them for you, but I knew that would make things worse. I remember last Christmas you brought in a Buzz Light year toy and all the boys wanted to borrow it, and you let them even though you said it was given to you by your dad. The one that left you to go to military. I've never seen you mad or sad until today when you cried in lunch because Kirstie was mad at you for telling her crush she thought he was cute. I wanted to be your shoulder, but I was too shy to even talk to you. I wish I could just talk to you...
Many kids in our class would only talk to me to ask me for an eraser. Sometimes for a pencil. It annoyed me that no one brought their materials. It annoyed me even more that they never gave it back. I remember when you forgot to bring a pencil and you asked me and I said no, you ended up writing with a black color pencil. I felt so bad for that, so I decided to give one to you. And you said you would give it back, but you didn't.
The next day you came in with a pack of 12 new pencils for me saying you were sorry you forgot. I had the biggest smile on my face. However I never took that pack, instead I took the old pencil and told you to keep it in case it happens again. You just simply nodded and smiled.... Then you hugged me. And for the first time I felt noticed. Thank you.
Sincerely, the boy who said 'no'

FanfictionMitch never talked to Scott, not even in 4th grade when they first saw each other. But he always wrote letters to him. Letters he never ended up reading before knowing it was too late.
