Gray woke up after about seven hours of sleep, ready to start the day. He hurried to the guild, because if this perfect plan was going to be effective he needed to start early.
At the guild were only a few people, but among them was who he searched for.
"Mira!" he shouted across the guild and waved, and when she saw Gray she smiled and waved back.
Gray walked to the table Mira was cleaning at the moment. "Up early, I see," she said cheerily. "Unusual for you, Gray."
"I have something I need to do before the place gets crowded."
Mira giggled. "How exciting, care to share the plan with me?"
"I can't, but I need to know, the party is Christmas eve, correct?" Mira nodded, not sure where this was going.
"I need to know exactly how the preparations are planned out. You don't happen to have some form of schedule on it?"
An almost scary smile showed on the face of the takeover mage. "You know what?" she said, "I do have that."
Gray sighed in relief. "Thank you so much! I'll do my best to repay you in the near future."
And Mira's smile went back to normal.
A few hours later the guild was filled with people, but Gray was nowhere in sight. He was at Lucy's, because she had the most magnificent work space. Her desk was the most flexible in all of Magnolia. It was made by Fairy Tail's wood make mage, Laki, and Lucy had gotten it for her 20th birthday. The desk could be used in a lot of ways with its many drawers in various sizes and multiple desk tops that could be extended in almost every direction.
Gray had spread out a couple papers on the desk, and he was working hard - except when he took breaks to refill his glass of orange juice - to figure out the best way to ask Natsu out.
That day they were setting up the first holiday decorations, Christmas curtains, glitter and light chains in beautiful colours along the walls that Natsu would always break with one of his stupid annoying fire punches.
Gray had to admit to himself, though, that Natsu looked really cute when he punched things, because he always got so into it. People are cute when they're passionate about things.
The schedule also said that the big Christmas tree would be taken in, but Gray knew that not to be true. The big tree had problem getting to Magnolia, because it came from north of the city where there apparently, and this made Gray very jealous, was lots of snow, and there had been a really bad snow storm.
So, he thought to himself, glitter and Christmas lights. The guild will be beautiful. Tomorrow will be the perfect time to strike.
Now he had decided on the perfect time to ask Natsu, but he still needed the plan to be perfect. There were candles involved, because he couldn't imagine the flame-brain not liking candles- maybe he could make Natsu light them for him!
Gray lifted his pencil up to his mouth with flare movement, and hit his glass of orange juice. It spilled out on his schedule for the party planning, and ruined all his notes.
"Damn it!" he shouted and threw his pencil across the room. He ran to the bathroom to get a towel for cleaning up, but when he came back it was too late.
His plans were ruined and he had no orange juice. He was back to square one.
Seven days left.
