Lily POV

It was late and I missed the last train. So I had to walk home. Which I didn't mind because I loved the night air. I knew that walking so late in the night would mean running into rather a rapist or a ghoul. But I didn't care. To be honest, I always thought it was funny how people would be so shocked that I didn't care. I was well known as someone who has lost it at work. But since my work is above average no one talks about it much. But I have to admit that I have been lonely, since I have no one to greet me at home. Just when I started walking passed an ally, I heard the crying of a baby.

Completely ignoring every sense of logic of how I should NOT enter it, I did. I followed the sound until I saw two dead bodies. A man and a woman, and by the freaky things sticking out of them. I'll take a huge guess that they were ghouls. I walked over them carful not to step on them and found the source of the crying. The baby was in a small basket in between two really bad smelling dumpsters. I dragged the basket out carefully so not to hurt the child. To my surprise it was also very small. I looked over to the dead ghouls, then back to the crying infant. "They must have died trying to protect their young." I thought to myself, feeling a bit sad. Suddenly I heard, a small hungry growl coming from the child's tummy. Earning a small chuckle from me.

"I HEAR A BABY CRYING SIR!!" yelled a young husky voice.

"DID THOWS THINGS HAVE A CHILD?!" Shouted an older male.

"I didn't see one! It's most likely that they hid it!" replied the husky voice.

"THEN GO KILL IT!!!" ordered the older man.

I quickly but gently picked up the infant, being carful to support it's head and ran away as quickly as I could. When I was sure that I was far enough I slowed my pace until I was walking again. I looked down to the child and carefully rapped it into my coat to keep it warm. Taking the baby was by reflex. But I didn't like the thought of it being killed, and besides. I'm afraid that I had already grown attached to it anyway. But now that it was in my arms only one question ran through my head.

"How am I going to feed you?" I asked the baby, not expecting an answer.

I thought to myself about all I knew about ghouls. Until a thought came into my head. "If ghouls eat human flesh, then does that mean they can drink blood?" I questioned to myself quietly. I looked around as I walked until I found a 24 hour super market. I walked in and more thoughts popped into my mind. That if I was going to keep the baby, then there are things that I need to get also. I swiftly grabbed a shopping cart with one hand as the other held the child. I walked up and down the isles, grabbing some things I will need. Dippers, wipes, bottles, a stroller, some baby clothes that seemed big enough to fit but have enough room for the baby to grow, a baby blanket, and a portable carge with frills for the baby to sleep in until I can get a cartel. And when I went to pay for all this, the cashier looked at me funny. But said nothing, and by the amount I paid I was happy that I had a high salary. And mentally thanking my mother in heaven for forcing me to go to college.

"Ma'am please be more discreet on breast feeding your child." said the cashier.

I looked to the baby confused and noticed that at some point the baby had moved a side of my plunging neck line out of the way, and had fallen asleep sucking on my breast. I blushed deep red and adjusted the baby so to hide it into my coat. "sorry about that. I didn't notice that my child was doing that." I told the cashier. She just nodded her head and handed me my bags which I held with one hand. I walked out of the store and took the shortest path home. After about 15 minutes of walking, I finally made it to my apartment building. I entered my key code and walked in through the sliding doors and strait to the elevator. As I puched the button calling the elevator, I hear an annoying voice say, "Oh, Ms. Lily! Back late again I see!" I took a deep breath and looked and the tall, blue haired pest.
