A Ray Of Happiness

The cold air sent shivers down my spine urging me to wrap my arms around myself. I followed Chris towards his Red Ferrari. There was an awkward silence between us. I started fidgeting with my cell phone trying my best to act calm. He said he wanted to talk to me about something. What could it be? Thoughts clouded my mind. I was so occupied that i didn't notice that I was spacing out until Chris shook me. Shaking away all the thoughts I looked at him. There was a hint of that infamous smirk on his face.

I looked at him, "What?"

He smirked, "Nothing"

I knew something was up. Changing the topic, I questioned him

"Chris! Where are u taking me?"

"Wait and watch, Babe"

My heart skipped a beat. Babe? Ok, so its not such a bad thing to like your cousin secretly which i had been doing since the age of 10. There was something in him that attracted me. His laugh, was the best music to my ears. His eyes, I could drown in those blue orbs for the rest of my life without getting distracted. His Humour, that could make me laugh even on my worst days. Yeah! I definitely liked him, but it was completely ridiculous, as he only thought of me as his own sister and i didn't want to ruin our friendship.

The car came to a halt, drifting me away from my never ending chain of thoughts. Looking outside, I realised that we were parked in an empty piece of land.

Resting my confused gaze on Chris I asked him, "Where are we?"

He smirked, " Have Patience Babe!"

Whats with him calling me babe after every two seconds? I was getting pretty annoyed. He opened my door, and helped me outside.

Before I managed to get a clear view, a black cloth was right in front of my eyes. Blindfold? Seriously? What the hell is happening?

"Chris?" I called out

A warm hand grabbed mine and i could instantly feel his hot breath on my ear, as he whispered

"Im Here, Don't you Worry"

A smile spread across my face and all of a sudden i felt more secure to have him by my side.

He started walking and I followed trying hard not to stumble. Each and every time I started losing balance his strong hands would immediately go around my waist, steadying me.

I could feel my heart fluttering in my chest, like a cage bird. After covering a little distance we came to a stop. He covered my eyes, as if I could see past this black cloth.

After some time, he removed the blindfold and whispered in my ear, his short, warm breaths sending chills down my spine.

"Surprise!"

I opened my eyes, just to be welcomed by a crowd of people, smiling at me!

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" They said collectedly.

Tears sprung to my eyes, as I realised that I had forgotten my own birthday. I looked at Chris, who immediately took me in his arms. Pulling away, i wiped the tears away. I was happy to have him beside me.

"Thankyou. Thankyou, for everything" I whispered.

He smiled. From the crowd my aunt's familiar face appeared. Chace's and Jace's small hands were gripping their mother's hand tightly. As soon as they saw me, they ran towards me.

"GWACEE!" They screamed, hugging me tightly.

I hugged them back, planting a kiss on their cheeks.

"Look What We Got you" they handed me two cards. Happy birthday was scribbled all over them. It was the most adorable gift ever. I pulled them into another tight hug.

This Day had truly been amazing.
