Chapter 4 ~ Road Trip
Getting a hold of Miss Daciana was a lot harder than I first thought it would be. The drive to Ipswich would be a long gruesome ride of thirteen hours. Not only did I not have the gas money for the trip, I had no idea what to tell my parents. I couldn't exactly say, "Hey, I see ghosts and this friend of mine, whom is a ghost, has been trapped on Earth for two years! There is most likely this witch that can help him, but I have to drive thirteen hours to meet her. Oh, by the way, can I borrow money for gas?"
My next resort was the old fashioned simple route of writing a letter. I wrote a long detailed letter, begging for help, of any kind, and mailed it promptly. Five days later, the letter was returned to the sender unopened. I sent the letter two more times, only to receive the same outcome.
My moods were as low as they have ever been. Three weeks, going on a month, has past since we first learned about our witch friend. I was beginning to loose all hope and give up on this lead, when fate stepped in and handed me a royal flush

Frustrated, I slammed my hands on my desk. "Why would she put an address on the site if she isn't going to use it? Does she find this funny? It's not a game!"
"Calm down there tiger," Zac snickered, casually looking up from the newspaper he's reading.
"Why are you so calm, this is about your life."
"Or the lack thereof," he noted.
"Oh, er, sorry about that," I sheepishly rubbed my neck. "Don't you want to get in contact with her and solve this dilemma of your's?"
"Of course I do, I'm in no rush though."
"Why the sudden change? You couldn't wait to finish this."
He gazed at me with contemplation. "I'm going to leave someday, it's inevitable, so I might as well savor and enjoy the days I have left. We'll get to her, one way or another, until then I'm going to be happy and concern myself with the present, not the future."
"Wise words of a ghost," I commented.
"I'll take that as a complement."
Fluttering my eyelashes, I replied in a southern belle's accent, "Why, I wouldn't have it any other way!"
Aiden barged into my room for the thousandth time. Holding his hands up in surrender, he hastily said, "I know, knock first! I need to ask you a quick question."
"What do you want?" I question wearily.
"Do you know where dad is? My creative writing class is wanting to go on a trip and I need to talk to him about approving it."
"He and mom went out, it's date night remember? Where do you guys want to go?"
"We want to visit Danvers and see their historical stuff up close."
"What's in Danvers?"
"You'll probably recognize the old name, Salem Village."
I busted out laughing, clutching my stomach. "Who put you up to this? Were you going through my computer history?"
"No..." he responded slowly, as if questioning my sanity. "It's October and Mrs. Wells topic of the month is the Salem Witch Trials. We have to write a story, or a diary describing the events through a character's perspective. We thought it would be cool to visit the main site in which the trials took place."
"That's close to Ipswich right?" I pondered.
"Of course, they didn't have cars in the 1600's, so it would only make sense that the towns which held the trials are close by."
"How long are you staying?"
"Dad has to approve it first, but we we're hopping to leave on a Friday morning and be back the next Monday afternoon. I don't know if dad would agree though. You know how he is about school."
"Yeah...maybe we should call dad and tell him it's an emergency so he'll come home?" I pondered while feeling guilty. I don't want to ruin their date night, even though they have one every week, sometime twice! However, this is a matter of life and death.
"I'll call and ask if they can be back earlier than usual."
"Better idea, I think I know how I'll convince him."
"How?" he questioned excitedly.
"What's the one thing he can never deny, no matter what?"
"Who knew you were so evil," Aiden chuckled.
"Trust me, there's plenty of things you don't know about me."

"Mother, father, please have a seat," I gestured towards the love seat. Cautiously, they both sat down.
"What's this about? Are one of you in trouble?" dad asked.
"No, but I have an idea I would like to run by you dad." Aiden then proceded to explain the class's plans and why this trip would be a benefit to the students.
"I don't know son, it's a long drive and I don't want the students to fall far behind in their schooling."
"You can have the students complete the work and turn it in before they leave. It will only be two days of school work," he persisted.
"Yeah right," dad scoffed, "I'm supposed to believe they will all comply?"
"You could make it clear that if they didn't, they will no longer be able to attend the trip and they will still have to attend school. I guarantee you it will convince them."
"I don't feel comfortable leaving Mrs. Wells with twelve students all alone, I won't be able to hire another chaperon and I can't pull someone from the staff."
"I'll go," I suggested, hopefully keeping my tone smooth and controlled. If this problem didn't arise, I was planning on asking, begging if I had to, to go along with them.
"You'll go?"
"Yeah, I'll be there just in case Mrs. Wells needs help. You won't even have to pay me, I'll even pay for my food and room if I have to." My heart thudded fast in my chest, what if he says no? How will I reach Daciana then? "Just think about it, you and mom will be alone, free to do whatever you want. You could finally take mom swing dancing! Maybe even go to a spa resort."
"Oh, Adam, please say yes! We haven't gone on a weekend trip for a while. We deserve a vacation, so do the kids. I agree with Aiden, this would be a great learning esperience and it will help them get in tune with their characters."
Hook, line, sinker, and done. Dad's kryptonite is mom, never able to say no to the love of his life.
"I'll run it by the superattendent, but no promises!" he cautioned.
Behind our backs, Aiden and I slapped hands, knowing we are both going on a road trip.

I apologize for the length, my shortest chapter so far, but I'm extremely tired and I had to type this on Wattpad. My Microsoft Word isn't working for some reason and I don't like typing on anything else, hehe I'm weird. This is probably really crappy and has tons of errors, sorry:(
Next chapter will be longer and we will finally meet Daciana Lazarovici! Don't you just love her name?:)
