I woke to the sound of birds chirping and the sun shining in my eyes. I was about to roll over but I remembered Sherlock and I had fallen asleep outside, so without waking him I gently pushed him over and stood up to stretch my legs.
I ran two laps around the yard to wake myself up before walking over to Sherlock to wake him. I gently placed a hand on his shoulder and he woke immediately. Yawning he got up and proceeded to run two laps like I had.
"I'll go make breakfast, you take the blankets upstairs and I'll meet you there, okay?" I asked as I made my way to the door.
"Kay Myc!" was the responce I got as I gently clicked the door closed.
I started to make eggs when a noise from behind makes me jump.
"Myc we need to talk." my dad states from the kitchen table. Aparently I hadn't noticed him there.
"No dad. I'm making Sherlock and I breakfast. If you want to talk you do it while I cook." I replied as I start making tea.
"I'm sending you to Baskerville boarding academy."
I dropped the tea cup.
"What??" I asked incredulously.
"You heard me, and you leave tomorrow." with that he got up and left.
I ran on autopilot, cleaning up the broken cup, finishing breakfast and then heading upstairs to find Sherlock playing my violin.
"Here Sherlock." I say as I hand him a tray with eggs and tea.
"Thank you Myc." he said as he wolfed down the food.
When he finished eating I piled the plates onto the tray and set them aside. I took a deep breath and sighed.
"Sherlock?" I said into the quiet room.
"Yes Myc?" he asked as he got up from the floor on which he'd been sitting and streched his legs.
"I'm... uh... leaving tomorrow."
"For what?"
"Boarding school."
"When are you coming back?"
"Next year."
"What?!?" he cried incredulously as he ran towards me.
He wrapped his tiny arms around me and nuzzled his face into my shirt. I picked him up and placed him on my hip with my arms wrapped around his back.
"Sherly, it's gonna be fine, I'll come back!" I said ruffling his hair.
"But... but... I'm not gonna see you for a whole year!" he cried as he nuzzled himself closer.
"What would you like to do?" I asked him, changing the subject.
"What do you mean?" came his confused reply.
"I'm leaving tomorrow so I want you to pick everything you'll want to do and we'll do it today, okay?" I asked hoping my plan would work.
"Will you play your violin for me Myc?" he asked after a moment of thought.
"Really?" I asked, of all things he wanted to hear me play the violin?
"Well I won't hear you for a whole year!" he replied stoutly.
"What song?" I asked as I set him down and began to page through my music, already knowing what song he'd pick.
"Particia number one by Bach!" came the usual request.
I picked up my violin and began to play. When I was done I asked him what he wanted to do next.
"Cluedo!" he shouted happily as he got up to go look for te game.
"No!" I shouted, to his dismay. "Anything but that!"
"Okay... let's go visit all our favorite places!" he said happily moving away from the idea of cluedo.
"Perfect!" I told him, "I'll pack lunch and we'll leave in a bit."

We walked through the door laughing, Sherlock carrying his stuffed fox, otter and hedgehog like they were the most precious things in the world.
"Myc?" he asked once upstairs in my room.
"Yes Sherlock?" I said plopping down on the bed.
"There's one more thing I want to do."
"What's that?"
"Play pirates!"
