In a Field of Flowers...

Chapter 4

“Hi Percy.” I watched his perfect lips form those words. My smile grew when I saw his eyes trail up and down my body. “hey.” I smiled and looked to the ground, brushing a stray piece of hair behind my ear. “Ready to go?” he said, holding out his hand to take my own. I nodded and bid Sarah a goodbye. I giggled when she winked at me and then shut the door, following Alec to the car. He opened my door for me and then went to his side, getting in and turning on the ignition. “So, how have you been?” he asked. “Uhh, alright I guess.” I responded sheepishly “Where are we gonna go?” I tried to continue the conversation. “surprise.” He said smirking, a hint of excitement in his eyes.

                The rest of the car ride was small talk and complements, perfect for me. I smiled as he opened my door like the gentleman he is and helped me out of the car, my eyes finally discovering my secret location date. I scanned over the atmosphere, taking in the scent of salt water and sea food. “Oh sea food is my favorite!” I smiled. “I know.” He blushed. “How did you know?” I questioned, “You told me one time when we were texting, and I remembered it in case I ever got to take you on a date.” He turned a deeper shade of scarlet. “That is just the sweetest thing.” I smiled at him as he laced his fingers into mine. I instantly felt sparks erupt on my skin.  I have waited so long to lace our hands together, to know what it would feel like, and I have finally experienced it. My first hand-hold. His hands were soft and very large, almost three times the size of my own dainty small ones. His thumb ran along the top of my hand, soothing the skin, sending tingles down my spine with each movement. I blushed as he led me into the restaurant, the waitress sitting us at the reserved table.

                We ordered our food and Alec just stared at me. “What?” I giggled. “I am just wondering how I got so lucky to go on a date with someone as beautiful and smart as you. You have no idea how long I have waited for this.” My smile grew at his words, my heart fluttered. He actually likes me. I was not dreaming all along, I was just predicting reality. “You have no idea how long I have wished to hear you tell me that.” I smiled larger, if that was even possible.

                We ate our food and talked about everything we could. This has been the best date. Alec paid the bill and then took my hand, leading me out of the restaurant. “Thank you” I smiled at him as he helped me into the car. “Your welcome, but it isn’t over yet silly.” He smiled at me and started the car. “Where are we going?” I asked, completely amazed that he was spending even more time with me. “Well, that is another surprise.” He smirked at me yet again and looked at the road, driving to our destination.

                I looked at him while he was driving. Everything about him is perfect. His chocolate curls draped on his head, he had emerald green eyes that could make anyone fall under their spell, and he was six feet tall with large muscles from countless hours at the gym. My eyes trailed to his hands on the steering wheel, they were very large, veins sticking out prominently. I was snapped out of my trance by him clearing his throat. “We are here” he smiled, coming to my side of the car to help me out. I blushed at the fact I was just caught checking him out. Our hands were clasped together as we walked to a beach, the sun was just starting to set.

                “So we are going to the beach?” I grinned at him, looking up to make eye contact. “Yes we are.” He blushed at the cheesy plan and started to swing our hands.  He lead me to a tree that had a thick branch hanging out from the side, perfect to sit in. “you first.” He lifted me up and placed me on the branch with ease, then climbing on himself. “This is so pretty.” I smiled, looking up at him. “Yeah, but I think you are prettier.” I giggled at his cliché pick up line. Alec slithered his arm around me, encasing me in his warmth and musky scent. My head laid down to rest on his chest as I looked at the ocean. His long fingers started to play with my hair. “I love your hair.” He said out of the blue. “Why?” I giggled. “I don’t really know, I just think it’s perfect.  And besides, I have always had a thing for girls with long hair.” He laughed and continued to run his fingers through my hair, occasionally coming across a knot and gently tugging it out before continuing. This is perfect.

                “Ready to go?” Alec questioned after half an hour of sitting there, just talking. “Yeah”. He nodded and reached down, un-clasping my shoes and taking them off of me, climbing down with them in hand. I blushed and he helped me down, handing me my heels when I felt the sand hit my feet.

                We walked back to the car, meaningless conversations going between us. This has been the best night of my life. He helped me into the car, yet again, then drove in the direction of my house.

                We pulled into my driveway and he walked me to the front door. “Thank you. This was really fun” I said smiling. “The best part was that I got to be with you” he said, brushing my hair behind me ear. I blushed and looked down. “Percy?” “mhmm” “I was wondering- uh I mean, well, will you be my girlfriend?” my smile grew and I looked up at him. “I mean I get it if you don’t want to, I’m sorry. I should have never asked. I mean. Ugh.” “Alec, of course I will be your girlfriend.” I smiled, he blushed at his nervousness. “Really?” he breathed, he was leaning in, hand on my cheek, breath hitting my lips. “Yeah” I responded before he crashed his lips onto mine in a sweet kiss. I had never kissed a boy before, but this was better than what I had imagined. Our lips moved in perfect sync, my hands were wrapped around his neck, his hands on my cheeks.

                He pulled away just enough to rest his forehead on mine. “I will text you tomorrow, okay?” he smiled. “Okay” I blushed. He pecked my lips one more time before getting in his car and driving home. My mind was swimming. He kissed me. He kissed me. HE KISSED ME! Out of all people he kissed me. I am so lucky. What is Sarah going to say? Oh she will be so excited!

                I calmed myself down and went inside, saying hello to my parents before going into my room. I slipped into my pjs and got into bed, figuring I’d call Sarah and give her the details tomorrow. My eyes slowly drifted closed to the thought of Alec running through my head. And for the first time in a long time, I didn’t have a nightmare.
