Dance

Chapter One

I stared at the ceiling of my hospital room, wincing in pain every now and then. I had just come from my dance recital, me an the girls killed it! As we were walking out, Cynthia, one of our enemy squad's captain, tripped me. Sending me flying onto the cement, harshly. My knee went first, then the rest of my body. Screaming in pain I watched as all of the girl's helped me try to get up, Cynthia was walking away. Whatever, I thought, won't be seeing her at any more competitions.

Later that day I lay in the hospital bed, waiting to see how long I had to be out of dance. Knowing I wouldn't be out long, but hating the thought of missing any dance was always on my mind as I neared injuries from dangerous flips and cars coming out of nowhere as I drove everyone to practice. "Well Cathy, I have good news, but I also have bad news." My doctor came in saying, I quickly corrected him. "Nope, if it has to do with missing dance, its horrible news." He looked at me, smiled shyly, and said again "Then Cathy, I have good news, and absolutely horrible news." I looked at him, afraid of what was going to come out. "Good news, cast is coming off in a couple of weeks. But, your knee will still be shattered." I let out of breathe of relief. "That's the bad news? I don't have to miss any dance?!" I asked him full of hope. "That wasn't bad news compared to what I'm about to tell you." I looked at him dead in the eyes. "Cathy, you can't dance ever again." He said. Before he could finish again, I started screaming. Loud. Partially because of the pain, mainly because I would never dance again. "WHAT?! THE TRIP WASNT EVEN MY FAULT!! I DIDNT SAY OOH LOOK I WONDER IF IM INDUSTRUCTABLE! AND FALL TO THE GROUND. A GIRL FROM THE OTHER TEAM MADE ME FALL!!" By the time I was done screaming, my face was all wet from the tears running down my face. "Calm down Cathy, we can talk more about this tomorrow. For now get some rest." 2 hours after he left, I fell asleep from my crying.
