{Demi's POV}
As soon as we entered my small apartment we could smell the stench of alcohol. We decided that it was best to wait till Christmas. It was Christmas Eve. I suddenly became scared and tightened my grip on Paige's hand.
"Demi... I'll protect you.."
I smiled at how lucky I was and looked up.
"Where have you been!?" Dallas asked, and then she saw Paige.
"You think this is the right time to bring a friend over?.."
"Where's mom and dad!?" Just as I asked I could hear screams and throwing.
"Turns out our dad isn't Maddie's dad..--" I cut her short.
"She's still my sister though." That doesn't change anything... Hopefully.
"Where is she now?" I asked, concerned.
"Sleeping. she's fine demi."
Finally my mom and dad came out and gasped when they saw me.
"Who the fuck is this?" My dad asked, I knew what his eyes were saying but didn't actually speak in front of someone.
"Mom.. Dad.. This is my girlfriend, Paige.." I waited for the slap across my face that never came.
"Why do we care?" My dad asked. I looked down surprised.
"Demi, this isn't the time.. Its Christmas Eve. We are late on things here... Can you go buy some tamales for tomorrow actually.?" I nodded and held Paige's hand. As soon as we got out, we hugged happily.
"I didn't think it'd be that easy." I exclaimed.
"Well be prepared for my parents.. Anyway let's go shopping!" We ran to the store, which was pretty close. As we walked into the store, the person I least wanted to see stood there. He was playing games on his phone and then he looked up. His smirk reminded me of the Halloween party, so close to losing my virginity to such a douche bag.
"Woah, you guys going all lesbian?" He bit his lip and observed us like we were an unknown species and he was a scientist.
"Why the fuck do you care.?" I asked, I held Paige's hand high and proud.
"Well if you want an actual dick in the action I'll always be there, so you know call me." Paige grunted in disgust.
"If I ever got your dick, it'd be the reason I would go lesbian. But you see, this perfect girl is the reason I went lesbian, cause I never got your dick. Never wanted it." Paige said and looked up at me proudly. He shrugged it away, "whatever." I smiled at him and waved goodbye. We bought the things we went there for. When we left the store, Jason was waiting outside with other people.
"Look, that's them."
All the popular girls and guys from our school were there. They gasped and laughed at us.
"Oh my god, I so knew you were staring at my boobs that one time." Jesenia said, god I always thought she was below on my list of who I wanted besides me.
"What boobs?" Paige said and I laughed with her.
"whatever Paige, what happened to your solo, mystery shit?" Paige looked up and replied with, "I don't look so solo anymore right? Its over. But you sure look lonely... What happened to your best friend and your boy toy? Did they stop talking to y-" I cut Paige off. Jesenia was starting to cry, her face was red and tears were already forming at her eyes. "That's enough Paige. She's hurt.. Let's go.." Paige and I turned around and walked off.
"Don't hurt people like that Paige, it might hurt them.. A lot.. Deeply."
"I'm sorry demi. She hurt me, and you.." Paige held me and I hugged her back. "But Paige, I'm not weak anymore, thanks to you. I love you." I kissed her and she kissed me back while smiling, "I love you too demi." We dropped off the things and Maddie finally woke up.
"Demi!" I hugged her so tight.
" I missed you baby." I said and kissed her forehead.
"I missed you too, and who is she? She's pretty."
"She is, isn't she? This is Paige." I giggled.
"Pleasure to meet you Maddie."
"Yeah you too!"
So we played and ate together, all three of us, until it was getting late.
"I'll come visit you okay?"
"Okay.. Recently?
"Yes, very soon ."
"Love ya.''
''Love you too Maddie."
We walked out and went towards Paige's house, it was barely 7:49 pm.
"Oh God, we're here. Be ready." Paige knocked on the door.
{Paige's POV}
My parents stared at me for five minutes straight.. It felt like a life time.
"Oh now you show up.?" My dad asked sternly.
"And who is this.. A friend?" My Mom asking, raising an eyebrow, "looks more presentable than you."
I sighed and looked at the floor. The words didn't seem to want to come out of my dry mouth.
"This is my girlfriend.. Demetria... Call her Demi..."
Demi smiled, "nice to mee-"
"Is this some kind of a joke?" My moms face turned tomato red.
"No.. Mom.. I love her."
My mom ran, tears in her eyes.
"Mom! Please..."
My dads hand went up and I felt myself shrinking. I didn't feel anything but I heard a slap. I looked up and he had slapped Demi.
"You've hurt my daughter.. This is a sin. You're possessed, you need an exorcist."
"No WE don't need some fucked up mind trick. I love her!" I screamed and pushed him to the floor.
"Whatever I don't need your acceptance... Don't ever smack my girlfriend again!" Before I left my fathers words caught me.
"I knew we should have never adopted you. You screw up." I turned around and stared at him. He is lying, he is lying, he is lying.
"Stop lying..." I did always look different... People always treated me differently...
"Just leave, you will no longer be an embarrassment to this family.. We never wanted you. Fuck off, I won't be seeing you in hell." The words stung me, they hurt more than a slap would have. I suddenly couldn't breathe, I gasped for air and my lungs felt like they were full of bullshit. I started trembling and shaking. Sweat and tears started mixing across my face.
Demi came and hugged me.
"Breathe baby, breathe."
What felt like an hour was just a few minutes. The attack passed and my dad just walked away... Didn't even help. Demi took me by the hand and led me about.
I'm worthless. I'm nothing.. At least I would have been if I didn't have Demi. God I love her. She's the only thing left I have..
I kissed her, " I love you."
