~Demi's POV~
As she dyed her hair, I smiled. She wanted to try something new.
"So what do you think?"
"I think you're the only one who can pull that off."
She smiled and wrapped me in her arms. Her freshly dyed silver hair was long and curly. Paige wanted to keep her hair long for a while, and maybe she'd cut it.
"I'm gonna sleep for a bit baby, I'm tired. I love you."
I kissed her forehead and watched her eyes close. Her chest rising and lowering. Her breathing called me down. I grabbed the keys to our blue car...( in memory of Paige's blue hair!) Life had been amazing for us, it's like we were getting back everything we never had. I was now 24. We had a small apartment together and still lived in our small neighborhood. We haven't visited our families since we made our "decisions" though. I did miss Maddie and I had been planning on visiting her, and just checking on my family. It was already December. The fresh winter air hit my face as I closed the door. I got into the car and headed towards my old house. I knocked on the door, hoping that maybe something had changed in a positive way.
.."Demi????"
Maddie was beautiful. She was now 14. She was so grown up. I hugged her and I didn't want to let go.
"Merry Christmas. I missed you so much Maddie.."
"Not as much as I missed you."
Tears were streaming down my cheek like crazy. Then I saw her,
"Mom?"
She joined in the group hug and we stood there like that for at least 6 minutes, but I noticed people were missing.
"Where's Dallas?.... and dad....?"
Maddie and my mom looked at each other.
"Dallas left to live her life. And well.. your dad.. he passed away Demi. A while ago, actually. I married the father of Maddie. I wanted to contact you but I couldn't. I'm sorry."
I didn't hear anymore. Everything was a blur, maybe my mind was playing tricks or there were too many tears in my eyes. My dad, gone? He had treated us like shit, but he's my dad. I love him.
Father.. I want to say thank you. Even if I still hurt.....
"It's okay Demi, everything's okay."
I sat down, I couldn't balance myself.
I hope that heaven gives you a second chance.
The day passed. I finally comprehended that my dad had left us. My mom made a meal for us, we sat and ate. Although the bad news were unbearable, I had an amazing time with my mom and my sister. My mom asked about Paige and I told her we were still together and happy. She didn't seem to mind, she was actually accepting. I missed them so much. The time had come for me to leave. Again.
"I'll visit more often." I said.
"Maybe you should come for New Years." Maddie said. I hugged her and promised her I would.
"Love you..."
~Paige's POV~
I woke up at 5 in the morning and Demi was barely closing the door behind her.
"Where were you baby girl?"
"I went to see them, my family. Merry Christmas beautiful."
She kissed me with so much power. Was it weird that her kisses were more powerful now that she was more confident and happy with herself?
"I love you." I said while looking at her lips and smiling. I leaned in for another kiss, but her words stopped me.
"Maybe.. you should see your family Paige."
I quickly got up and stared at her. I could feel my cheeks getting red, my hands started to tremble.
"What? Are you crazy? They were never a family to me." Demi looked at me with tears in her eyes.
"My dad died Paige. Things change."
I went and held her in my arms.
"I'm so sorry."
I kissed her forehead and held her close to me.
"I could have seen him while he was still alive, and now it's too late... all my fault...."
I hugged her tighter and tighter.
"None of this is your fault Demi. I'm here. You're okay. I love you."
We both cried together in silence.
