Obscurity

Chaper 2

"We should go out tomorrow night." My best friend Emma states. She has been trying to get my to go out with her for a few months now but I really can't be bothered.
"I don't know Em... I really have to get studying and I have work"
"Come on Stace! You always use that excuse and besides... It's your birthday!!!"
I let out a heavy sigh not wanting to remember my birthday. I'm only turning 19. That isn't a special number so I don't know why I should do anything dramatic for it.
"You're no fun now. I remember all through high school we would go to parties and we were never cooped up in the house. We were always out!!! You're a really smart girl you don't need to study all the time plus I checked you're work schedule. You're not working tomorrow and you're not work Saturday. So you have no choice but to come out with me and get blind drunk." Em clapped her hands together like it is a set plan.
"But-"
"No buts." Ems cuts me off.
I give her an annoyed look and grunt.
We were currently sitting in her apartment watching The Big Bang Theory whilst on Instagram.
"Sooooo I met this super sexy guy today" I thought I'd share my knight in shining armour with Em.
"Oooooo what's his name"
"Justin. His name is Justin and you'd love him" I know how much Em likes her guys so I thought I might tease her a bit with it.
"Tell me more! What did he look like? How did he act!? Come in spill!"
"Well he walked into work saving me from a very aggressive customer. He was mysterious yet sweet. But it was strange. I kind of felt like he knew me some how.
He's got blonde-caramel hair with brown eyes but they didn't look like a normal brown it was like a hazelnut brown. He had a perfect smile. So perfect it would make your knees week!" I laugh seeing her captivated in my description.
"I didn't tell you stop!" She whines.
"He's got a charm to the way he talks. His voice is deep and husky and so is his laugh. You'd really like him"
"Well. Are you going to see him again?"
"Probably not " I deadpan.
Ems huffs while she looks at me with disappointment.
"What's wrong with you" I laugh.
"Didn't you get his number?" She asks.
"No? Why would I?"
"Because he is obviously a babe!"
"Yes but I was a work that would be weird. And I'm not interested in a relationship or whatever."
"Stace. You can't keep hiding yourself away from the world just because of a little heart break in high school."
"I'm not hiding myself away because of that! I'm so over that!" I laugh.
"Yeah. Yeah. We all say that"
I go back to scrolling through Instagram finding nothing interesting.
I decided to watch TV and my mind goes back to Justin and how he was looking at me.
I realise I mentioned to Ems that it felt like he already knew me. And it's true. It did feel like that but how would he know me. I didn't go to school with him or anything so how?

BANG BANG BANG!!!

I jolted up from my bed when I hear the sudden bashing on my bedroom door.
"Are you up yet!!!!" I hear my mum and Ems yelling through the other side of the door.
I groan indicating that I'm up but cranky. They burst through the door jumping on my bed.
"Happy birthday Stacey!!!!" They scream in unison.
My ears become sensitive from all the yelling, I shove a pillow over my head to block them out.
"Come on Stace! It's you're birthday! It only happens once a year! Get up I have breakfast made downstairs." My mum snatches the pillow off of my head then walks out of my room.
"I seriously hate you guys sometimes" I grunt on my way to the bathroom.

I get down stairs only to see a massive feast spread out on the dining table.
"You guys really shouldn't have done this for me. But thank you it means a lot." I thank my mum and Ems.
"It's fine sweetie sit down and eat. I hear you have a big day ahead of you" Mum winks at me and laughing.
I glare at Ems who is already digging into the food. I laugh at the sight of her looking at me in confusion with a mouth full of food.
"What?" She muffles through the food.
"Nothing. But you should seriously not talk while your eating and also eat with your mouth closed."
She shrugs at my words and goes back to eating.
"Wow Mum you really went through a lot of effort for me. Thank you"
"It's okay baby you just enjoy and have fun" She kisses my head and walks up the stairs.
I started eating my pancakes, French toast and scrambled eggs and my God did they taste amazing!
"So today I, you're best friend and your sister, shall be taking you shopping today for a new wardrobe and an outfit for tonight as we are having a two person birthday celebration!!" Ems announced when she finished shoving her food down.
"I can't believe I'm doing this." I groan.
"Well. You are. So go get ready"
