Soul pov;

Tsubaki, Liz and Patty are staying at the apartment I share with Maka, so we can go over these clips. The girls are taking the couch whilst I'm on the floor, I don't really mind though.

"I wonder what happened to Kid?" Tsubaki thought aloud, thinking back to the end of the last tape. "It can't be too serious because Kid seems fine now." Liz said nonchalantly.

Patty was busy wrestling her stuffed giraffe to listen to the conversation. "But he's different to what we see in the clips. Maybe this changed them all?" I suggested.

"Let's just see." Tsubaki said pressing play.

*Video*

A very glum looking pair were shown lazily rolling a ball back and forth between them. They were at a basketball court. The bluenette sighed loudly.

"I can't have fun knowing Kid is hurt!" The boy cried out. The girl beside him nodded as she rolled the ball back to the boy. "It's my fault he's been unconscious all day!" She muttered.

"Ugh, its not just your fault! It's mine too. We both knew he could be hurt!" The bluenette groaned. The two stopped passing the ball and just sat there feeling guilty about their friend's current state.

"Hey, you guys look cheerful." A familiar voice spoke with sarcasm. The pair's eyes lit up as they turned around to see who owned the oh-so-familiar voice. The girl was the first to react as she rushed over to the owner of the voice.

"Kid!?" The bluenette and blonde called in sync. The older boy smiled and nodded as the girl tackled him to the ground. "It's nice to know you guys care about me." He laughed.

"H-hey!" Maka playfully punched the shinigami in the arm. "She's no fun when you're not around, Kid. She wouldn't stop talking about you." Black*Star teased, earning a punch from the girl.

The group erupted in a round of laughter. "It really is good to see you again, Kid." Black*Star sighed. He and Maka wore sad looks on their faces. Kid sighed and engulfed the two with a hug.

"It's not your fault guys, I got cocky and didn't notice the root. It's okay. Really." Maka and Black*Star stared at their shoes intently. Kid sighed again, which caught the pair's attention.

"My Father wants me to start going on missions soon, so I wont be able to hang with you two as much... Sorry." The two gasped in horror. "Why!?" The bluenette asked. Kid gave him a questioning look.

"Why do you have to start now?" The blonde questioned. The shinigami shrugged. "Maka! Mama is about to come home, lets give her a surprise." A certain red-head death scythe called out to his daughter, cutting off further conversation between the three.

*New clip*

Kid walked along an alleyway, the camera following him, presumably being carried by someone. "What's the purpose of recording this?" Kid asked.

"To review and improve on any mistakes made. Plus, if things go wrong, someone more experienced is here." The voice of Sid was heard from behind the camera.

"Shouldn't I wait until I'm partnered with a weapon before I go on a mission?" The shinigami asked. "Your father wanted you to start as soon as possible." The man behind the camera put simply.

"I gue-" the young shinigami was cut off by a large, rough hand reaching for his leg but missing by inches. Camera hovered over the owner of the hand.

"Symmetric Slayer Sam! Your soul that has turned to a kishin egg is mine!" The Shinigami got into a fighting stance as the, unnaturally symmetrical figure stepped out of the shadows.

"My soul? Yours? Why would I allow such an asymmetrical boy as yourself take my beautifully symmetric soul?" The figure dashed forward and slashed at the shinigami.

Kid jumped, narrowly avoiding the slash. The figure was quick though and managed to grab the boy's leg and slam him into a wall, knocking the boy out.

"Nygus! Now!" Sid dropped the camera and a glow was seen from behind. Within seconds, the Symmetrical slayer was dead. "Lord death isn't going to like this..."

*end video*

*Soul pov*

"Question, why does it seem Kid gets knocked out alot?" Tsubaki asked as soon as the video ended. "That's only what we saw on camera, imagine how much he must've gotten hurt." Liz replied.

"Is no one else questioning that name? Symmetrical Slayer Sam?" I asked. This had just given us more questions than answers.

*Maka pov*

"Adjust your stance Maka, you're too open." Stein called from the sidelines. Black*Star, Kid and I were at a special training camp thing with professor Stein as our mentor.

We were doing basic hand to hand combat drills and it was kinda clear I was behind the other two. I can still fight, but I should definitely improve.

"Black*Star, hands out of your pockets. Take this seriously." Stein lectured the bluenette beside me. "A big star like me doesn't need this weak training, I-" Black*Star was cut off by Stein's glare.

The boy quickly took his hands out of his pockets and started assaulting a nearby tree. That's one way to shut him up I guess. Knocking him unconscious is another.

"Kid, move your arm a little closer to your chest- Black*Star! Stop that, now!" The professor took a sigh and got a cigarette out from his pocket and lit it.

"Maybe we should test your skills. Fight me anyway you wish. All three of you." The man took a puff of his cigarette. Great, because last time we fought, we totally weren't absolutely destroyed WITH our weapons.

Black*Star smirked. "Just make sure you guys don't get in the way of a big star like me!" Well he went from terrified of this man to over confident about winning real quick.

I looked over to Kid, he's been really quiet during this whole training camp. He got into battle stance, wearing his emotionless expression. I'll have to ask him about it later.
