HPS (Chap 4)

-----------------

The next half hour passed S-L-O-W-L-Y. A truly gigantic amount of people came in the alley, and it looked like they were buying mostly all the same things. It was that time of year again. Wait a minuite... HOGWARTS!!! Oh, that makes sence... I had always wondered about this particular spike in people. Anyway, it was a huge relief when Professor Snape poofed in.

"I couldn't find anyone else... So I get to take you around the alley." He groaned.

"Joy." I mumbled. The wonders of sarcasm. I took out my list of things and gave it to him. He circled some things with his quill and gave me the list back.

"You get these things... I'll get everything else. But first we need-"

"What about money?" I interrupted.

"I was getting to that..."

"Oh sorry. Continue?"

He sighed. "I said, but first we need to go to gringotts bank to get you some money." He continued. "Do you have your key?"

I remembered the big gold gringotts key and took it out of my pocket. Snape took it and examined it, then gave it back.

"Keep that." He said. "DON'T lose it. In fact I might hold it for you..."

"What, you don't trust me?" I asked giving him an EXTREME puppy dog face, if I do say so myself. Snape raised his eyebrow and gave me an 'are you kidding me?!' look, but let me keep the key anyway.

I put it away and we started walking down to parts of diagon alley I had never seen before. We passed giant buildings, some all painted and new, some cracked and oldish looking, all crammed with adult wizards and students.

About 5 minuets later we approached a gigantic snow white marble building that TOWERED over the rest, and I thought they were gigantic. Snape pushed open the bronze doors, and then another set of silver doors.

"Be aware of goblins..." He warned quietly. We walked through the rows of small gross creatures to the very end one.

"Miss Potter would like to withdraw." Snape said to the goblin. The goblin slowly looked up at me.

"And does Miss Potter have a key?" He asked.

"Yes." I answered. After a few seconds the goblin looked impatient. Snape elbowed me. They were both staring at me, and I felt uncomfortable. The goblin frowned.

"May I SEE the key?" It asked.

"Oh! Yeah, right." I mumbled, embarrassed. I pulled out the key and the goblin examined it. He nodded and motioned for me and Snape to follow him.

We climbed down a set of stairs before we got into a rickety looking mine cart thing and were off. I almost puked, the ride was imaginably fast. My heart was racing and the butterflies in my stomach died of the pressure as we got more underground. We sped faster than a... a... um, something really fast. Like a dragon on a sugar rush. Trust me though, it was seriously fast.

We got to vault 687, I'm assuming Snape's vault, though it could have been mine because one, why would Snape give me money, and two, Hogwarts might have set up an account for me because Snape is broke. The goblin touched the door with his finger. He took the key and did magicy things and the door opened.

Inside, there was a HUGE pile of gold coins. Snape explained to me wizarding money on the way here, but I was too preoccupied with not vomitting to really listen. Good thing I grew up in a shopping center, giving me an almost automatic knowledge of galleons and sickles and knuts.
