After I got off work a couple of weeks later, I went with Mel to try on her dress to finish up the last details of it, the wedding was getting closer and closer.
“What is it like being married?” Mel asked as she was looking at her dress through the mirror. I looked up from the magazine that I was reading.
“It’s no more I and me its all about us and ours, so you might want to start practicing that.” I said with a giggle.
“Very funny Vicky but believe if or not I haven't thought about me since Noah was born, it’s been all about Noah since then…Alright let’s see if this baby can zip up.” Mel said as the lady helped her zip up her dress.
“Mel you are absolutely stunning, Scott’s mouth is going to drop when he sees you.” I said thinking back to when Jason first saw me in my dress at our wedding, it was enough to make the nervousness I was feeling melt away. The way he was looking at me with nothing but love and pride, I was surprised that I didn’t faint or something when he gave me his gorgeous smile.
“You think so?” Mel said smiling to herself spinning around in the mirror. “I can’t wait!” she squealed.
It was getting pretty dark by the time I got home, and I knew I had to walk Nike as soon as I get in. I never like walking Nike at night but I knew it had to be done unless I want to clean up her poop. I hook Nike up to her dog leash walking her outside hopefully she would hurry up and do her business, it was starting to get cold.
“If Jason were home I would have him do this.” I mumbled to myself.
I walked Nike to some near buy bushes hoping it would speed up her bathroom process, and to my surprise it worked, so now I could go back in side and get warm. When I was coming off the elevator and walking around the corner to the apartment I came to a halt when I see to huge men hovering around the door to our apartment like they were looking for something. I quickly pulled Nike back around the corner before she could be seen by the two men. What the hell were they doing at our apartment? Fortunately for me the mirror across the hall from me was sitting at an angle so I could see the guys but they couldn’t see me. I saw one of them talking on the phone while the other one was looking around before he started messing with the door knob, should I be worried? What if they were some new neighbors wanting to borrow a cup of sugar or something? Well they wouldn’t be trying to open the door, they would just knock on the door like a normal person would. I left my cell phone in my apartment but I do have my keys with me. I’m glad I decided to lock the door before I walked Nike. I picked up Nike so her nails won’t make to much noise on the tile floor, relived she didn’t try to put up a fight I snuck back on the elevator and went to my car. Once I got in I sped off towards Mel and Scott’s apartment, in about ten minutes I arrived. I franticly knocked on the door hoping that Mel didn’t decide to stop somewhere on the way home, to my relief she opened the door.
“Vicky... did you forget something? Mel asked confused looking down at Nike.
“Can I come in?”
“Oh yea sure sorry” Mel said stepping aside to let me and Nike in.
“So what’s going on?”
“I think two guys were trying to break into my apartment.”
“What!” Mel half shouted
“Can I use your phone?”
“Yea sure here…Vicky are you sure this is what you saw?”
“I mean why else would to huge men be hovering around the door jiggling the door knob and acting all suspicious and what not… or am I just being paranoid?”
