I looked around frantically, trying to find a different route out of this sticky situation.Thunder clapped in the air as the sea roared, and rain poured down like a bucket on my already damp hair.
Trying to shield my face, I scanned the smooth stone walls of the dominating castle. Laying my hand on the cool surface, I raised my right foot to try and get a good grip, but the stone was too slippery from the rain.
I sighed in frustration as the rain got heavier, saturating my clothes and seeping through my boots. There was no point in trying to block it out now. As I slowly turned back around so that the wall was now behind me,I peeped down at the raging sea bellow me. The vivid waves crashed into the uneven rocks. The rocks looked sharp and dangerous, but If I was careful I could avoid them...
And with that,I leaped off the cliff with little reluctance, splashing into the hungry sea. The water engulfed my well built body, but I somehow felt small compared to the sea. Every time I tried to push my self up to the surface the waves crashed over me,and I was lapped by the darkness of the ocean. My lungs were screaming for air,my muscles begging for mercy. For a second, I think I lost hope and gave up on my mission.Bubbles surrounded me and white dots blurred my vision. I could no longer feel the shake of thunder and I couldn't see anything.
That's when I felt a great force somehow push me out of the water, onto the jagged rocks. Sharp needles poked my sides as I gasped for air and the world around me came back into sight. I winced in pain as I struggled to get up. The left side of my shirt was ripped, revealing the long red cut from my ribs to my waist. Blood oozed out of the open wound and it the excruciating pain was nearly unbearable.
But I forced myself up,ignoring the sharp stabs from my sides before the sea could pull me back in its trap.
I dragged myself across the wet ground, until I reached a big rock I could rest against. I sighed in relief, glad that it was over. But I still had to rescue prince Hamflim. I covered the area with my eyes, attempting to find an entrance to the castle from the darkness of the night. A eerie light shone bright from about 50 metres away. I limped closer to have a better look, and found that it was next to a huge wooden door guarded by heavy iron gates. No one seemed to be guarding it-not like it needed any guarding anyway. I crept up to the entrance, just incase someone was going to jump out and attack me. The towering gates seemed so much more bigger up close.
But the gaps between the posts on the gate looked wide enough for me to just squeeze in between...it was worth a try. Sucking in my stomach and pressing myself against the wall behind me,I stuck my left foot in between the gap. After my whole leg was in the gap,I managed to squeeze my head and left arm through. I had trouble trying to get my broad shoulders and chest through the gate, but I eventually could and managed to get the rest of my body in as well.
The wooden door towered over me like a giant. I used all my strength to push the huge thing, but it wouldn't budge. The door was locked, and I could see the huge iron lock connected to where the door opened. I grinned mischievously. During my training before going into this big adventure to save Prince Hamflim, I mastered the technique of pick-locking. Reaching into my right boot, hoping the waves haven't washed it out,I brung out the
same wire I used in training. My hands were shaky, but after 15 minutes, the lock fell to the floor and the doors swung open with a big creek.
It was dark and gloomy, but I knew Hamflin was here. I called his name, twice, thrice, but I received no reply. The only light source was a lot torch that hung on the wall. I grabbed it and started to the stone staircase that led up to a door way. Despite the distracting wound that was burning on my side, I climbed the stairs swiftly, trying to not make a sound.
I peeped into the doorway. A cold shiver traveled up my spine,as I saw him. Prince Hamflin lay unconscious on the floor, skin pale and purple bags hanging under his eyes. I dropped the extinguished torch and rushed over to his limp body to check his pulse, which was fortunately pumping but at a dangerously slow pace. I scooped him up,and hurried down the stairs and back outside of the castle walls.
The only question was... How was I going to get both of us out of here?
