Chapter 16

Niomie's POV

No one talked for a good 20 minutes. Nick and I were just walking and walking along the beach in the cooling of the night as we saw the waves crash with the sand.

I couldn't take it no more, as they all say, 'curiously killed the cat'. I was dying to know why Nick has been so... apart for me lately, but I couldn't find the words the ask him that.

I stopped and faced him, "Look Nick, we need to talk." I said confidently.

"Um sure, talk about what?" He said scratching the back of his neck. I learned to know that he only does that when he's nervous. It's a habit of his.

"I just want to know what's wrong with you lately. You seem so... Apart. So stressed . We don't talk much, we don't laugh how we use to, and most importantly, you never open up to me anymore." I said looking directly at those eyes that made me fall for him. "I need to know what's wrong so I can fix his Nick. I don't want to be like this no more, I-"

"STOP!" Nick yelled and I flinched at his tone. I had never seen this side of him. It was intimidating.

"Look Niomie, we can't be together no more. I'm not the guy you think I am-"

"No Nick please I can-"

"Niomie don't interrupt me." He looked out in the distance and then said, "I just can't no more."

And with those words... He left.

He left me for good. At this time I was in tears, heartbroken and confused. First my ex and know him? Why does this always happen to me? Am I not good enough?

I slumped down to my Knees in the sand and cried and cried and cried until there was no more left.

I will find out the reason why Nick is this way. I don't care how my how much it kills me, I will help him.
