Chapter 5

It was almost 3am, Edward and I were sitting by the window sill overlooking the back yard of the Cullen's house. You would think after being a vampire for some time I would be used to the idea of being awake 24/7 but I sometimes I feel the old Bella inside of me which really can't grasp the thought of no sleep.

Alice, Jasper and Clara were outside in an intense conversation. Although it was intense, I haven't seen Alice so calm and in place before.

I felt Edwards body rise and fall against mine as he sighed. I turned around to look into those incredibly intense golden eyes. "What's wrong?" I whispered.

He shut his eyes closed tightly holding back a thought.

"Tell me." I pushed, entwining my fingers with his.

"What would you say if I told you I don't have a good feeling about this?"

"A good feeling about what?" I stared at him until his eyes would lock with mine, but they didn't. Instead, they were locked on his sister and Clara.

He didn't reply. But I now knew what he meant.

"What would you say if I told you that you were completely paranoid?" I grinned.

"I would say you haven't listened to me before so I don't see why that would change now." I tensed next to him but he just let out a soft chuckle to reassure me that he was only teasing.

"Edward-" I started, but he placed a finger to my lips.

In less than a millisecond he sped across the bedroom and shut the door. He was back to me quicker than the speed of light and his fingers were tangled in my hair. He brought his lips to mine and pressed hard against them. The kiss was rough and intense as if he were scared we didn't have many kisses left. This wasn't the first time his kisses felt like this. I grabbed his bronze hair and pulled him towards me as our lips worked together. Edward started removing my top when a sharp, fresh, mouth watering scent filled the air. It was so raw and rich. The smell was followed with a scream. Renesmee's scream.

Edward looked at me distressed. Before I knew it he had pulled us both out of the window and we landed swiftly in the backyard.

"Clara!" Esme cried out. "Please dear, come with me." She pleaded.

"She tripped, Nessie tripped," Alice started babbling, panic arising in her voice. "The blood, there's a lot. Clara." she chocked out.

Clara was crouched down in a stance as if she were about to attack her prey. Fear and panic arose in me as I took in the situation.

Clara sucked in a pained breath of air. She had the same expression as Edward had numerous times when I was a human. I followed Clara's eyes to where I spotted my daughter curled near two huge rocks. Jacob in his true werewolf from in front of her. Clara was going to attack Renesmee.

"I can't!" Clara spat painfully. I could see the pain in her eyes but that didn't stop me from running to my daughter to protect her. Edward joined me holding onto my arm tightly.

I sucked in a sharp breathe careful not to breathe in the blood around me. Edward was more controlled. Way more controlled. There was a huge gash slit through Renesmee's left leg. I grabbed Jacob's t-shirt which was torn on the ground and tied it around Renesmee's leg putting pressure to it.

"Breathe Ness, you're going to be fine." I soothed.

"Clara!" Alice cried this time. "This is family, we can help you."

She snarled a growl through her teeth. I growled back at her louder, making my nostrils flare. Edward took my hand squeezing it.

My eyes were still dangerously locked on Clara's. There was at least a 15 metre difference from where Renesmee was and where Clara was. But 15 metres was nothing when it came to speed. If I needed to attack Clara to protect my daughter, I would. I could tell Edward knew what I was feeling- even though he couldn't hear my thoughts- by the uneasiness in his tone.
