~flashback~

I was sitting on the swings, playing by myself. I had no friends. I was a loner. Nobody wanted to be friends with a weirdo like me... I sighed as I started to swing back and forth. Who would ever want to be friends with me?
"Hi!", a high voice exclaimed making me jump. I looked up and saw a girl with green eyes and fluffy black hair.
"Who are you?", I asked.
"Emerald.", she handed something to me. I looked at her hand and seen a pack of gummy bears. "Wanna share?"
I nodded as she opened the candy and gave me some. "What's your name?", she asked while stuffing her mouth.
"Brysun.."
"Do you have any friends?"
"No..."
"We're going to be best friends now. Ok, Brysun?"
"Um.. Ok..", she walked towards me and slowly planted a kiss on my cheek . I blushed and touched my cheek.
"We'll always be best friends.", she smiled.
~flashback over~

Beep! Beep! Beep!

I heard my alarm clock go off. I groaned as I felt around to find the snooze button. I decided to just unplug my alarm clock.
"You shouldn't have unplugged it. Won't you need it for tomorrow? And the day after that? And so on and so forth?"
"Shut up...", I slowly sat up and stretched then rubbed my eyes. As my vision started to clear up, I saw a blurry figure standing in front of me. After a while, the figure became clear.
"Ah! W-what the hell are you doing in my house! How'd you even- what are you doing here!", I yelled at Emerald, my best friend of 10 years.
"Uh duh. I snuck in through your window.", she said. I took a closer look at her and noticed that she was wearing just a towel. I saw her drying her jet black hair with another towel.
"Where. Are. Your. Clothes!", I whispered yelled remembering that my mother was still home.
"I wanted to take a shower here then get dressed in front of you. Since you're a teenaged boy, I assumed you wanted to take a peek at my developing body...", she said. I knew she was kidding, she says stuff like this everyday.
"Brysun! Are you awake? It's time to get ready for school! You don't want to be late!", I heard my mom shout as her footsteps came closer to my door. I quickly pushed Emerald into my closet and locked her inside. My mom would freak if she seen Emerald wearing nothing but a towel in my room. "D-dont come in, mom! I- I'm not naked!", I said trying my best to sound convincing. She opened the door to my room and giggled, "Son. You know that 'naked' means you're not wearing any clothes, right? You're wearing your pajamas still. Now enough dilly dallying, get ready for school. You don't want Emerald to think you stood her up.", she closed my door. I heard small whimpers coming from the closet, as I opened it. I seen a puppy leap out and onto my bed. I sighed. "Em, turn back. And put some clothes on!", I said looking away and remembering the day I learned about her secret.

~flashback~
"Brysun, come on! I want to show you something!", Emerald yelled as she ran deeper into the forest.
"What if our parents are looking for us?", I asked becoming fearful of the wilderness.
"My parents are here. It's fine.", she took my hand and intertwined our fingers.
"Why are they-", I was cut off by growling. I held her hand tighter as I began to shake.
"Mommy, daddy! This is my friend, Brysun!", she smiled. I looked to see who she was talking to and saw two giant wolves walking towards us. I began to cry. Was I about to die?
The wolves soon turned into...humans?
"We are so sorry for scaring you.", the female said. She must have been Emerald's mother. So the male had to have been her dad.
"Yes. We thought you were a hunter that our daughter carelessly brought to us.", her father said.
Emerald ran to his opened arms and jumped in them, he picked her up and kissed her forehead.
"So your name is Brysun?", the mother asked. I nodded and watched as Emerald ran to her mother next. Her father walked to me.
"I know that you're just a child, but...I want you to take care of my Emerald. Do we have an understanding?", I shook my head and smiled a little. I saw Emerald turn into a small wolf and run towards me. She tackled me to the ground and we began to wrestle and play. Turns out Emerald is stranger than I thought...but in a good way.

~flashback over~

I looked over at Emerald and seen her fully dressed. I watched as she played with her hair.
"I'm going to jump out of the window. I'll be okay , so don't worry. Then I'm going to knock on your front door and we'll act like I just got here okay?"
I nodded and watched as she leaped out of the window. I quickly went to the bathroom to do my daily routine- shower, brush my teeth, comb my hair, and get dressed. After I was done, I casually walked downstairs and seen Emerald talking with my mom. She looked up at me and smiled. I have always loved her smile. I grabbed my backpack filled with school supplies and walked out with Emerald. She ran to the bushes and pulled out her backpack. I chuckled at her as she picked off sticks and thorns.
"Brysun?"
"Yeah?", I stopped chuckling and looked at her.
"Promise me that you won't make any other best friends except for me?"
"I promise." I said as we locked pinkies.
Same old Emerald, I thought to myself.
