John stood by Sherlock's grave and felt the salty tears roll down his cheek, falling onto the black, shiny stone with Sherlock's name engraved into it. He thought about all the fun times they had together, all the sad and all miserable moments. The only thing the memories had in common was the two people who shared them. John, the solider and the heart, and Sherlock, the detective and the brain.

He remembered the first time they had met; John's dog had run away to Sherlock's house to meet Redbeard, Sherlock's dog. The dogs loved each other and their time together made John and Sherlock befriend each other. They happened to notice that they had a lot in common and started to enjoyed each other's company.

John was ten and Sherlock was six years old, but still, Sherlock could outsmart John whenever he pleased. They became each other's best friend and spent all of their spare time together.

As they grew older, John failed in some classes, while Sherlock skipped some. It ended up with both of them coming to college the same year and of course, they requested to be each other's roommate.
