"That is a really dumb idea." Jason says sitting besides me on his couch.

"Well then let's hear yours." I say. "Actually let's not. I don't think my brain can handle that much stupid."

"Ouch. You are so mean I don't understand why my brother likes you so much."  He puts his hand over his heart to show mock hurt.

It's been a month since Jace got hit by a car. Which I still believe was Tim. Jace is as good as new, but the police are still investigating the accident. Jason and I have become almost friends. We can be nice to each other sometimes. Jace is my  actual friend which it is nice to know I have another friend besides Gwen. Whom I don't see much outside of school anymore. We were so close. I don't know what happened

I have been spending a lot of time at Jace and Jason's house just to avoid Tim. Their mom is never home. Which I can tell bothers the boys a lot.  Occasionally I would see her at my house. So that is where I am assuming she is most of the time. Jason and I waited awhile to tell Jace about the whole Tim and their mom thing. Once we finally told him, Jace wasn't happy. He thinks that is mom has moved on from his dad already.

Jason and I tried to figure out what was going on, but eventually we came to a realization that it was too hard. So we gave up.

"Yeah well not everyone has good taste." I respond like ten minutes later.

He gives me an annoyed look and doesn't respond. We sit in silence for a couple of minutes.

I break the silence. "I'm going to go home now. I have school tomorrow and I am exhausted."I tell Jason. "Tell Jace I said hi if he ever comes home from the Café." I say.

"Woah there eager beaver. Okay, but I'm driving you home. Jace would never forgive me if I made you walk home by yourself." Jason says.

I wish he would stop being nice. He is rude to me most of the time and honestly I don't care when he is rude. I'd rather him be rude than nice. It gives me less to think about that way.

"You are acting like Jace and me are dating. Let me tell you something. We are not dating. Okay? Okay." I state.

"You can't be both Hazel and Augustus, Arden."

"The word okay was invented before that book, genius." I tell him.

"Well someone is in a bad mood." Jason says.

I don't respond to him I just make my way to the door. I feel like I am always leaving abruptly when it'a just Jason and me, but when Jace is here I don't leave abruptly.

I open the door and begin to walk out. Just before I make it out of the door I slam into a hard object.

It turns out that the hard object is Jace. I look up at him and he smiles.

"Hey, Arden," Jace greets. "What are you doing here?"

"Uh well Jason and I have an idea,"  Jason makes a noise at the use of Jason and I.

"Pardon me," I give him an evil glare. "I had a great idea and that idea is that we all need to get out of this town. Too many bad memories have been made here for all of us."

"You want to leave?" Jace asks.

I open my mouth to respond but Jason beats me to it.

"Yes she does. Now tell her it's a dumb idea."

"It's not dumb to me, but if you think it is then you don't have to come you know." Jace says.

"You're right. It is not dumb. It's insane. She isn't 18 yet. We have to wait until then if we are just going to leave. Also, she isn't our responsibility, Jace. She is basically nothing to us."
