“Happy fourteenth birthday Ivy!”

I looked around to see all of the staff to the castle and my family standing in front of me smiling. I couldn’t help but smile back. “Thanks.”

They led me over to a table that was stacked with black parcels. Gifts. You only get gifts on your fourteenth birthday to help you through your “Morf” And there are dozens among dozens of them. They are anonymous though.

“Would you like me to bring them to your room?” A maid asked.

“Yes please.” I replied and looked around for a familiar face. Stone.

I walked over to my best friend and embraced him in a hug.

“I haven’t seen you in so long.” He said.

I nodded in agreement. “I missed you.”

“I missed you too.” He said. “How’s it feel to be fourteen?”

“Not to different.”

“Trust me,” He said. “You will feel very different soon.”

Stone had changed two years ago.  I remember the day it happened to.

Flashback

“Ivy I am over here.”

I heard Stone calling for me and I looked around until my eyes fell upon him. Standing in the garden.

“Hey, Stone.” I said walking towards him and embracing him in a tight hug. There had been nothing romantic between us and I hoped there never would be. I could never see us settling down and getting married. I shuddered. That thought was to weird to even think about.

I pulled out of the embrace and looked up at him. Not much though since I was tall. Taller then a normal faeire even before the changing.

“Whoa, You have your purple eyes now.” I said as I looked up into his deep purple eyes.

“Yea, I do. Thats the first step” He smiled at me and we walked off towards the castle.

End of Flashback

I couldn’t help but feel weird remembering that. It seemed so long before I was going to change then.

“Ivy, are you all right?” He asked and I could here the concern in his voice.

“Yeah, I am fine.”

“ Let’s go get you all gussied up now. For your party later on”

I smiled at Stone’s enthusiasm and strange choice of words.

An hour later I emerged from my room with a dark green silk dress on that had a halter neck and fell right before my knees.

“You look beautiful honey.” My mother came over to me and looked me up and down like she always does looking for imperfections.

“Thanks mom.”

I turned around to see Stone staggering through the hallway. He had fallen asleep on my bed after the first fifteen minutes of me trying to decide what to wear. I sighed. Boys.

“Hey, Ivy sorry about how I fell asleep. But you look great.” He said when he reached me.

“No problem and Thanks.”

“Let’s go to the ballroom to have the best birthday a princess could ever have.” He offered me his arm and I linked myn through his and started off towards the ballroom.

“5,4,3,2,” Everyone chanted in the ballroom as it was about to run midnight and I closed my eyes waiting for midnight for when my first transformation would begin. First off your skin goes a pale Ivory and that would be nice change from my ghastly pale skin.

The entire night had been a blast. With everybody in the entire kingdom dancing and partying in the castle ballroom. People would come up to me every now and again to congratulate me but other then that I spent the entire night with Stone.

“1”

Everybody looked at me expectantly.

“Sometimes it takes a few minutes.” My mother said after people started to murmur around worried and shocked.

After a few minutes of an uncomfortable silence I felt the tears begin to well up in my eyes. “Why aren’t I changing?” I asked looking down at me skin.

“Because.” Said a deep voice from entrance to the ballroom. “You’re not a faerie!”

A shocked murmur went through the crowd. I looked to my mother for a explanation but she was crying so hard I was surprised she hadn’t fallen down yet.  Was I the only one who felt left out? I looked over the crowd and saw that I wasn’t.

“Who are you?” I asked sounding braver then I felt.

“Why Ivy, I am Storm your father.
