Thump, Thump, Thump my footsteps landed heavily on the grass. I was running from someone, something. The fog was thick around me and I was gasping for breath. I looked behind me. Nothing. But I could hear their footsteps following closely. It sounded as if they could go forever. But I couldn’t, up a head I saw a forest. I used the rest of my energy and launched myself behind a bush. I heard the footsteps coming closer, closer, closer towards my hiding spot. I tried to be as quiet as I could but my laboured breaths filled the air around me. Then there, in front of me were boots I looked up and saw grey eyes that leaned closer, closer closer…

I sat up gasping for breath. What kind of dream was that? I looked around at my surroundings. I was still in the field with nothing but grass around me. I stood up slowly. I had to get out of here. I needed to get away. I started running away from the direction of the castle, the castle…

The events of last night came flooding back to me and tears started to run down my cheeks as I ran. But I had to keep going. After what seemed hours of jogging, running and walking I collapsed on the ground from exhaustion. Thirsty. I needed to find water. I needed to find something, someone, somewhere.

I started to crawl and just as I was about to collapse I saw an outline of a building in front of me. I used the last of my energy to reach there, circle it make sure no one was in it and then I collapsed into a fitful sleep.

I woke feeling the efforts of last night’s running all over my body. I sat up slowly then realized that I really didn’t want to. I snuggled up close to the wall which was made of a textured cement. I did not want to go back to the castle. I know I might sound like a snotty brat who doesn’t appreciate what they have. Truth is, is that I would give up my life to just lead an average one in “The Other” Also known as earth. I wanted to get away from all of this. My mother, Storm, Stone. Stone! I totally forgot about him!

I want Stone here with me now. No, I need him. I slowly got up knowing that if I wanted to continue on with whatever I am doing here I need Stone.

The Castle was just in my view after walking for hours on end. I marked my path with the sparkly bobby pins that were in my hair.

I crept slowly around the side of the castle and into the village. The village is really just like any village. Dirt roads (We don’t need cars because we can fly), Small shops and faeries milling around constantly. I walked slowly and hopefully quietly down the main road and series of others until I arrived at Stone’s house. I crawled around to the back of his house and started to throw pinecones up at the window like I used to.

I saw his head poke out from the window and he looked down at me with a big grin on his face.

“Ivy? What are you doing here? All you alright?” He asked rather fast.

“I want to leave Stone; I want to leave all of this behind. I found an abandoned building on the edge of faerie world where we could live and I could get a job in “The other” and you could do whatever you wanted and we would be free! Be free from all of this!”

“You found an abandoned building?”

“Yes, and for money we could work in “The other” and buy our supplies there instead! All we would have to do is walk over the edge and we would enter it!”

“Ivy, I grabbed all your presents from your room and you’re safe just in case Storm came back. I have pretty much all of your savings in my room.”

“You’ll come?” Please say, please say yes.

“Of course. What kind of friend would I be if I didn’t? I don’t know if I’ll stay there forever but until this thing “blows over” I’ll be by your side. Now come up stairs and open your gifts?”

~~~
After I opened all of my presents that pretty much consisted of clothes and Raptal dollars. Raptal dollars are faerie world money and are the same worth as a U.S. dollar. We counted all of our Raptal dollars which turned out to be 2,567 gathered our clothes and some water bottles we head out.
“Do you want me to carry you?” Stone asked when we got outside.
“When we get outside the village.”
“Okay.”
I hopped on Stones back right in between his retractable silver wings, repositioned my backpack and got ready to take flight. I love flying. I always have and I hopefully always will. I remember when I was little that was the thing that I was most excited about. Flying if much faster than walking and we arrived after only one hour.
“Here it is” I said as we neared the building. I slid off his back and he retracted his wings back in.
“Wow.” He walked over to the building and ran his hand down the rough material. “How do we get in?”
“I saw a door on the other side but I was too tired to try to get in.” I said. “Let’s go try to get in.”
We walked around the building until we found the big metal double doors.
“Let me see if it will open.” Stone walked up to the doors and pushed on it. Locked. Of course. “I’ll try to beat it down.”
“Okay.” I took a step back while Stone tried to beat it down.
After about fifteen minutes I walked up to Stone put  my hand on his shoulder and guided him away from the door.
“How are we going to get in?” Stone asked sounding disappointed.
“When you were having your little “Attack the door” phase I saw something, something that we can get in through.” I said trying to make it sound mysterious but failing miserably.
“Really? Where is it?” Stone was bouncing around like a little kid. Wow he must really want to get in.
“It’s over here.” I grabbed Stone’s hand and led him over to a little burgundy door that I had spotted earlier.
“What is it?” Stone walked over to the door turned the gold knob and pushed hard on the door which slowly opened.
“I don’t know but let’s go in.” I started towards the open door but Stone put a hand out in front of me to block me.
“Let me go first. I don’t like the look of this.” He pushed his way in front of me and entered the doorway. I sighed. Here goes nothing
