Tom's POV

"You did great!" The woman exclaimed and ruffled my hair before talking to Mum about money. I hated this. Never in my life did I ever think I was going to be stuck learning piano. Mum said I had to do something other than stay inside and play video games, but I don't see the harm in doing that! I mean it's not like I don't do anything, and I don't necessarily need to go anywhere outside my house.

The woman was tall and had black hair with blonde tips, and she was just pretty in general. And I heard she's 23 so at least she isn't old. I kinda feel embarrassed though being here, no 15 year old guy casually takes piano lessons. I can already hear Steve never letting me live this one down. There was a large black piano against the right wall and a mirror covering the whole left wall. There was only one other person in the room and it was a kid who has been tending in the corner for about 20 minutes, but now he's playing the piano. And hell, he was good at it.

"I'm going to the bathroom." I said quietly and walked down the hall. The building was huge, and it's 5 stories high, and we're on the second floor. Why didn't Alice or any of my other siblings have to do this?! That's not fair!

After I took a piss and washed my hands, I walked back to see that Mum had already left the room to the lobby, but something else caught my attention... "Again! That was horrible, I can do better by scraping my nails on a chalkboard!" The woman was now standing next to the piano and the boy was still playing it. I tried not to make a sound, but damn, he was actually better at playing it than I was! Why was she acting like a bitch!? Who pissed in her corn flakes?

He glanced at me but continued to play the piano. But when he accidentally hit the wrong key, the woman flipped. "What was that!? Do you even practice for 3 hours?! Or do you just screw around and not care about anything at all?!" The woman scolded. The boy spared me a glance again but I guess he didn't want to get caught because he immediately looked back down at the keys.

I slid out of the room quietly and walked over to where Mum was waiting for me. She was chatting with a girl at the desk who kept showing off the ring on her finger. I caught mums attention and said quietly "She seems crazy."

"Tom, who are you even talking about? If you're bothering strangers again I swear--"

"--The woman who taught the piano, she was yelling at a kid who practically was a zombie" I whisper-yelled. It pissed me off for some reason. It's like seeing kids being forced to work or abused; it pisses everyone off. "Tom, hun, that's her son. Let her do what she wishes to with her son." Mum said sternly and gripped my hand, and dragged me out of the facility. "But--"

"--I wouldn't like it if someone told me how to parent, so I will not tell someone how to." She practically hissed and led me to the car. Once we were in and on the road, she asked "So, how did you like it? I know you rather be playing your video games but wasn't it nice and relaxing to do something else for a change?" I tried to figure out how to reply in an actual nice way. Did I like it? Hell no. Was it relaxing? Not when I hit the wrong key every two seconds. I rather be stuck with playing house with my siblings.

"Eh, no, not really. Too quiet for me. Sooo.... Do I have to go to the classes?" I asked as innocently as I could. "Mm, yes." Mum laughed and I just glared at her from the backseat. I would call her a bitch but she's my mum, I can't call my mum that. "Aww don't look at me like that Thomas! I'm just trying to expand your life span."

"No, you're shortening my lifespan by making me go out in the world where there's murderers, drugs, and sex."

"You're so dramatic. It's not like I'm forcing you to be outside!" She sighed when she realized I wasn't giving in. I looked out the car window and watched the buildings pass by. I have a bad feeling about this, maybe it's because I don't want to go to it. Every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday Im going to despise. Great.
