As I stealthily shut my car door, I let relief seep in through my misguided judgement.
'You've got this bel' I thought, though I knew I was in over my head. I must hold it high, he will think I'm weak.

I strode down the alleyway silently praying to God I was first to the rugged industrial building. at least it was in my territory, not his. I came up the back of the brick building and opened up a rusty old door with a M9 in hand, cocked, loaded, safety off as always. The door screeched in bloody murder as its hinges burned against my power to will it open.

To my surprise I was first, or so it seemed. The lights were still off only exit signs were illuminated, showing me my way.
'If this bastard plans to play a trick me so help me god I will blow his head off' I thought as tightened my pointer finger around the sensitive trigger.
I passed the first exit sign and round the corner of the first hallway, still tense by the quietness but leave it up to my footsteps to make the serene feeling dissipate in quick dismissal. My thought flickers away instantaneously when I feel two large hands grasp at my wrists, making my whole body tense.
Fury bubbled inside me as the unknown figure twisted me around, but the anger swiftly ran away when I saw the attackers face. Why did we have to be ripped apart by laws and territory.
"Hey princess" he said huskily growling as if he had taken offense by my actions.
I grunted quietly but it was interlaced by relief and and a rare hint of nervousness due to the odd circumstances. I was positioned against the chilling cement squashed by his waist that so effortlessly pinned me to the wall, only me I say. I noticed my gun still in hand, which gave me the 'great' idea to threaten him with it.
"Ashton let my hands go, now, I will shoot the shit out of your foot"
As the words left my mouth I quickly regretted them. Ashton rapidly brought my hands from behind my waist to above my head in one slicing motion. He then pinned me against the wall, again, a devilish smile flickered across his face when he saw I winced in fright.
"what's wrong, you scared Evo wannabe?" he smirked.
I mustered the courage to say no but it was mumbled and fragile. I looked down in embarrassment, he knew how he effected me, it was truly never fair how intimidated I got, it's just instinct sadly. But when I looked up to his eyes they went soft, frail and endearing. But it only lasted a sad fleeting moment when is eyes went hungry, and mine went black with terror with them. Ashton let go of my arms and they landed all too automatically to his jaw with a almost earsplitting smack. I knew he wanted a slow but unfaltering kiss between us, as my heart merely melted into his hands, But that's not what I'm here for and he knows that. His expression held a feeling of 'No fair!' I thought. he also did remind me of an 8 year old.
"Well, someone's gotten a little stronger" Ash replied as he cradled his reddening skin.
"You know what we're here for ash, I can't do this right now" I let out a harsh sign of rejection. He knew this wasn't the time or the place.
"So anyway, how's it been? when's the new shipment coming in. I need to know In the next few days so I can get everyone ready." I explain, hopefully showing my neediness for this next run of evos.
Ash and our whole operation is based in the New Carolina. After World War II, Hitler invaded through The Eastern side of Asia and took over half of the United States. Carolina, at the time, being our most needed assets conjoined the remaining states to create the New Carolina's. Or the Carolinians.
Throughout these few decades advances have been made in technology and human advancements. Sometimes resultantly creating abominations beyond belief. One day Dr. Haverfield had created an Evo, or an evolved human. People like them are the biggest threat in this world today. They have powers unlike any other, and have spread a across the world, being hunted not only by people but by the government themselves.

With this though of our past I let out a quiet snicker, but it came out much more exaggerated then I wanted. Ash looked at me with confusion, but I just waved him away. Soon after that encounter we started walking down the eerily quiet manufacturing buildings.
