The principal paused for a small moment, "There was a bombing and robbery at 'Steve's Pizzeria' in the center city." Everyone gasped, "Shoot, why?! that's my favorite place!" A kid exclaimed. That's probably the reason why everyone else was gasping.
Now there are more questions racing through my head. The principal continued, "Not to worry everyone, they will fix this current mess," the principal sounded like this was almost scripted. "Whoever finds the criminals or figures out who they are will get a $10,000 prize."
The kids were more thirsty for money than I've ever seen. This was either a coincidence or something worse, but I had to figure out -not for the money- for my friends.
After school was over, gossip spread all over. I immediately got out of school and went to Carter's house. I knocked on the door and Carter opened the door surprised to see me. "Oh hey, what're you doing here?" He asked but he wasn't hostile. "Just came to visit my most honest friend," I said. "Well okay." He said as he led me in.
I looked around the place trying to figure out a way to come up with a conversation nicely. "So where were you in class yesterday?" I asked trying not to mention Xavier wasn't at class too. Carter almost seemed hostile now, "I got sick as I was walking to school." Carter answered.
"Xavier was at class and we were looking for you." I lied, Carter was silent. Now I almost knew he knew that Xavier wasn't at school. "Oh, well I have homework to do, and I like doing it alone." I knew he was kicking me out so I left.
I went to my house and saw family there. My dad was acting quite weird. Mom saw it too, he was actually making dinner for us. After dinner and a long day, I went to bed. I'm going to find out more tomorrow, I thought.
