I'm running for my life from a monster, and I come across my grandmother's house. I try to go in, but it's locked. I turn around and look at my surroundings, trying to find anything that could be a weapon. I manage to break a healthy branch off of the tree in the front yard before the monster came upon me. But there was no monster, only an imitation of ME.

"Run. Go as far as you can from any civilization, or I'll find you. You wouldn't want that." Then she changed back. I had no weapons but for the long-forgotten branch. The me-copy advanced, and attacked. I cinched my eyes shut tight and put my arms up to protect myself, but there was nothing. I looked up, and my cousin, James, was there with a silver plated dagger, protecting me.

He fended off the monster, long enough for it to go away. Healing for another round, I guess.

He asked, 'Are you OK?' I definitely wasn't, and he clearly knew. Nonetheless, he helped me up, and I collapsed in a chair, completely beat. We talked for a bit longer.

'The monster hasn't come back yet, we should go inside before it does.' I said, utterly terrified.

James just made fun of me, saying 'Oh, you're scared?' He had no idea.

I picked up my bag, and begged him to go inside.

'Please, we don't kn- ow when it's going to come back!' I was already becoming a waterfall by that point. He mimicked me yet again.

'Hey look, there's a car. We're fine.' James said, spying a pair of headlights rounding the corner. Idiotically, I believed him. We turn to the street and wait to see who's there. Only, there isn't anyone. No one was driving the car and now James knew how to be scared, too.

'Oh SHIT, RUN!' He whisper-yelled, scrambling to get the front door unlocked and open. I almost tripped getting in and away from that /thing/.

When inside, he flipped both locks on the door and looked at me.

"What are we going to do?"
