"Oh, about that..." I said sheepishly "I don't actually know how I summoned it let alone know what happened." Makoto smiled gently. I could see understanding in his stormy grey eyes, almost as if he had predicted what I was about to say.
"That is how it normally shows itself to those who are pure hearted," Makoto explained. "Tell me now, how were you feeling on the day the Satan appeared?"
"He is not my father, he is just a heartless son of a bitch," I replied coldly. My true father was Akihiko. He never dared to lay a finger on me or anyone else who did not deserve it for that matter.
"Very well, but think hard, back to the day when Akihiko died," said Makoto impatiently.
Thinking back to the day when my day no when Satan appeared, I remembered all the pain, anger and fear I was feeling. I voiced out loud what I was thinking to Makoto.
"Interesting..." he said thoughtfully. "Tell you the truth, I myself never have witnessed this great power nor know how to control it. The only person I know of who had this gift was Akihiko and he is of no help now." With the same thoughtful look on his face Makoto walked away, pacing his steps evenly. Suddenly he stopped abruptly. "That's it! In order to use Shi No Ken effectively you must learn how to control your emotions. If grow out of hand, the demonic form lying inside of you may consume your human body and you will turn into a full fledged demon, powers and all." Makoto explained.
"But wouldn't that be a good thing?" I asked hesitantly. "If I was a demon, then surely it would be easier to defeat Satan?"
"No!" Makoto was on the verge of shouting. He took a few deep breaths to calm himself down then replied, "if you were to become a demon you then not only will you get your full powers, it would be against your nature to harm even a single hair on his head!" So that idea was definitely out. Then the only chance I had to defeat Satan was to use the Shi No Ken and so far we have only come up with one unlikely idea from a person who has never witnessed Shi No Ken let alone know how to control it. With all my anger and rage fuelling me, I threw a hard punch to the wall where the luminous writing was engraved.
"This is what I mean, you have to learn to control these emotions. No matter how much pent up anger you hold towards Satan you must never show them otherwise you will be the one on the floor."
I understood what Makoto is saying but it is difficult to not let the emotions flow free.
"Akuma!" Makoto said, snapping me out of my train of thought. "Let's get started on your training." Walking over to a cabinet displaying many swords including the one Father gave me. Placing his hand against the door of the cabinet and closing his eyes, Makoto muttered some unintelligible words. A gear shaped symbol appeared briefly on the door and the cabinet clicked open. "Here!" Makoto tossed my sword, the Shi No Ken to me. With my fast reflexes, I caught the sword in the air.
"Prepare for the unexpected," Makoto told me. His blue eyes seemed to hold a deeper meaning. Before I could investigate further Makoto pushed me down to the floor with his knee pressed to my stomach. Ouch! The sword hovered over my neck, nicking it a single drop of blood slid down the column of my neck.. His eyes were what really stunned me.They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul and for once, I could see how Makato truly was on the inside. His ice blue eyes held no mercy as he prepared to deliver the final blow. No! This is not how it's supposed to end. "Have you lost your mind?" I cried out with fury.
"I believe it is you who is about to lose their mind" he sneered maliciously.
A shot of adrenaline went through me. This is not how I wanted to go down. If I was going to die, I would do it in an honourable way, against Satan. Spurred on with my thoughts I grabbed Makoto's hand angrily and concentrated on channeling power through my hand. Come on! I thought desperately. This was my only chance. The loud cry confirmed what I had hoped for. I didn't know what I was doing but I followed my instincts. Makoto hastily jumped up and then smiled.
