When I woke up the next day, it was 12:00.
"Damn, I'm gonna be late for work!" I said as I got up and ran to the bathroom.
I got dressed, pulled up my hair, brushed my teeth, slipped my shoes on and ran outside with only my phone in hand.
I ran all the way to work to make it just in time, 12:30.
"Hey Bea! You're never this late!" My friend Kris said from behind the counter. Did I mention we work together?
"Yea, I woke up late." I said.
After I ran around trying to get some stuff done, I saw Ross sitting down at a table. I walked over to his table and sat down across from him.
"Hey. I didn't know you were here." I said.
"Hey! And yea, I saw you were in a bit of a rush. It's fine." He smiled.
"Ok. Can I get you anything?" I asked.
"Well, do you have any suggestions?" Ross asked me.
"Hmm. Oh! Number 5 is really good. And a chocolate chip cookie with it." I said.
"What is number 5?" He asked me.
"It's five pancakes piled up with syrup and butter, optional peanut butter. You can have regular pancakes or chocolate chip pancakes. I get chocolate chip. Anyways, it's amazing. It comes with you're choice of drink." I told him.
"Ok, I'll have that. With chocolate chip pancakes and peanut butter." He said.
"Do you want the cookie too?" I asked.
"Yes, two cookies please." He said.
"Ok, coming right up." I smiled and turned to put his order in.
"Who is that cutie?" Kris whispered to me.
"That's Ross." I whispered back.
"Oh. Major score!" She gave me a high five. We both laughed and got back to work.
About 3 minutes later, Ross's order was done. I got it and brought it to him.
"Here you go. Still warm." I said, setting the plate down on his table.
"Thank you, this smells great!" He said.
"Oh you're welcome, but all I did was put the order in." I laughed.
"So what time do you usually work? And what days?" He asked.
"Well, I work from 11:30-4:30 usually, but this week our schedule is all messed up. Someone quit, that's why I'm working from 12:30- 3:30 today. It's Friday, and I have the weekend off, so next week we should be back to normal." I said.
"Wow. That's confusing." He laughed.
"Yea, it is. I have a hard time keeping up with it myself." I sighed. "So where do you work?"
"I don't have an official job yet, but whenever I have free time, which is most of the time, I go to my dads shop and work. I either paint cars or just clean up around the place. He pays me pretty good, so I stick with it." Ross said.
"That's cool. Not having a specific time you have to show up and all." I told him.
"Yea. But sometimes it makes me think I don't have to show up at all. I don't have to, but if I want the money, I really do have to go to work every day. Which I do usually." He explained.
"Oh, that is true. But what does a guy like you do with all that money? You live with your dad so you don't have any bills." I asked.
