Ace's p.o.v
"Uhm. Sir." I felt someone lightly nudging my shoulder.
I lifted my head to the blinding hospital lights. My eyes slowly focused, I could see Sam. I turned around to see a man, which seemed to be the doctor.
I wanted to apologize for rudely storming back here, but I couldn't get the words. It was like my voice had left me.
"I-I.. er,"
He placed his hand on my shoulder, in a comforting way, like he understood everything.
"You'll need to leave the room for a few minutes." He told me.
I looked at Sam once more and sighed. Even when she was beat up, she looked so peaceful and sweet. I didn't keep my eyes off her. I just held her hand.
"I can't leave her.." I managed to mumble.
"I promise you can come right back after we have finished, she'll be fine."
I slowly stood up and softly kissed her temple. Without speaking, I left, going towards the waiting room.
I sat down, it was mostly empty besides an old man sitting on the right of me. I sat, with my face in my hands.
I couldn't believe this was happening. Only hours ago, we were fine. I already missed her hugs, I missed her kisses, I missed her loving presence. Oh god, what am I gonna do without her?
I felt like crying again, but I think I cried all I could last night.
I was sitting there awhile, when I remembered it was Christmas.
I stood up and made my way outside. I wasn't sure where I was going, all I knew was that I was going to get my baby a gift.
I felt the simplest gift would be some flowers, a bear, and a balloon. Seemed kind of cliché, but I know she'd love that.
I got back to the hospital, carrying all her gifts. The bear was a panda, which was her favorite; The balloon said "Get well soon".
I went back to her room, but the door was still closed, so I sat back by the old man.
The man stared at me oddly. I was almost startled when he asked.
"Who's that for?"
I turned to him and smiled thinking about Sam. It reminded me of the first time we met. "Sa-," I almost said her name. "My girlfriend."
He didn't say anything, he just looked at me and went back to reading his magazine.
My heart was racing. Why? Thinking and talking about her always makes me happy. Then my mind reminds me she's in a comma.
Damn.. I still can't believe that happened. If she.. no, when she wakes up, she is not leaving my sight ever again.
"Ace, you may go see her now." The doctor had said, standing before me.
I slowly stood up and thanked him, making my way back to Sam's room. She was still in the same, stiff spot. I sat down, placing her bear and flowers on the table. I tied the balloon to her bed.
I sighed once more before speaking.
"Merry Christmas Sam, I love you." I said, kissing her now, swelled up lips.
