I'm sure we all hear or use desu or です alot in Japanese anime/drama. This chapter will teach you a little more about this word.
Desu is the most well known of the Japanese copula-roughly equal to the English verb, "to be". It can be used after nouns, adjectives, and verbs. Desu is mainly used to make the sentence more polite.
Example: Nan desu ka? なんですか
