Chapter Two

Blue Blooded

______________________________________________________________________________________

"Your contract was to kill her." The voice echoed eerily around the trees.

I woke with a sensation of drowning in the floor. I tried to open my eyes but I couldn't. "Why didn't you kill her?" A fist slammed on a broken branch so hard you could hear the wood chip. I tried not to move at all, even though my muscles begun to twitch.

"She's different." He responded. I didn't know whether to feel complimented or insulted. In what way? I questioned myself.

"Why don't you tell her! She's awake!" He yelled in anger. A sharp pain tingled around my eyes, and then a sudden burn. I was unable focus on an object with out them being fussy or dancing. When regained my vision I lay in an arctic sunless forest surrounded by two men. The one from earlier and a very ample man with purple eyes like Oropher.

A bombazine black blanket was pulled over the caramel orange sky. Thousands stars dotted the night and snowy mountains elevated over the crescent moon. Evergreen saplings froze in the numbing air and the leaves were stunned by the wind. A misty atmosphere camouflaged and isolated the trees from each other, and the steamroller wind bit into the bark and the fruit of the trees. My mind puzzled like a duck who forgot how to swim.

"Where am I?" I squawked in his face, more scared than angry. His stern eyes looked into mine and I looked back in peril. "Who are you?" I shouted as I was getting anxious for an answer.

"East Anya." He mumbled. I saw the other one nudge him in the elbow as if he wasn't to answer.

"Where, where are we going?" I trembled.

Anya was a city of Wood Elves. Governed by the King Gwindor, a royal handsome elf as described by my mother. But from my first encounter, he's nothing more than stuck up snob. He's not evil as such. It's just his only flaw is that he's full of himself. All in all, he keeps the poor of the streets and keeps the hungry fed. His heir, was the sweetest most gentle man I've ever meet. By my sister was destined to marry him when she grew older with age.

"None of your business." Rudely my shadowed elf replied. Disheartened I looked to the ground. It was obviously some sort of kidnapping. The men blubbered whilst I was sat tied to the tree. They debated whether they should kill me or not. I looked around to see trees shadow the floor, and twigs and branches lining the forest ground. Rummaging around the floor, I looked for a branch to cut the binds lose. Nothing satisfied me. All were to blunt or either snapped if you touched it. I seamed to overlook all the decent twigs in panic. Their conversation had almost drawn to a close. A blinding flicker came from the corner of my left eye, at the souls of my shoes. It's too far away, I thought, but it was the only option left.

Using my flexible feet, I wriggled my toes and brushed my leg against the forest floor. Until my leather boot was lose. Slowly I clenched my toes and grasped the blade with my foot. Then I moved it towards my tied arms and cut the rope. I slowly moved towards the happy friends and whispered into the purple eyed ones ear.

"Let me go, or your friends blood will paint your vision."

"See." My old stalker cried. Purple eyes then strained his neck by moving his hand closer to the blade. His bulky arms pulled my hand off the blade, engaging in a full on arm wrestle. Obviously he had the advantage of strength but if I got my hand on a bow, he would be destined to die. He knocked the blade onto the floor and it disappeared beyond the leaves. Searching for it we both struggled on the floor looking for the item.
